Disney Kicks Out Some Pop Warner Teams After Fight

I'm stunned. Somebody has a policy and enforces it? GASP!
The only thing I'm not surprised by is that a bunch of wishy washy types think that there should be exceptions to the rule. Nope. They knew the rule when they went there.

of course i understand that and IRL I would NEVER even remotely think it was funny!!!
The thought of throwing a character into a lake never even crossed my mind until i read it here...and it seemed so absurd and surreal... like a scene from a movie....is what I said!!

I do not think you are a mean person, or think you really thought it was funny, but in your quote when you said "it made you kind of smile" to hear about something that DID happen IRL, I assumed you did not know how serious it was.
I apologize...peace? :flower3:

So the Baltimore Team was the ones that won their Division so now do they get stripped of the title. WOW and Westport is a very bad area

Thanks.....i appreciate that. If you knew me IRL you would know that it would horrify me that anyone would do that! I should not post on the net when i am overtired as i was that night....

I can not believe that folks actually did that!!! and it sounds like more than once..... no wonder the characters sometimes react strongly to troublesome kids( the pluto incident)

Disney security AND six units from Orange Country Sherrif's Dept. is MORE than just a couple of big tough-guy football players posturing, shouting epithets and throwing a couple of punches. That much reaction from the police is because it was a friggin' brawl.

Disney made the right decision to get those snots off property pronto.

The policy is clear. If any of the families were not aware, it was because they opted not to read the fine print.

Tough.

I couldn't have said it any better! Totally agree! :thumbsup2

What could have 'been handled better' is the kids' behavior and the chaperonage of these kids. If the kids had been behaving properly and the chaperones had done their jobs properly, then WDW would not have had to enforce their written policies.

Again, I feel no sympathy. As the old saying goes, if you don't want to pay the time, then don't do the crime.

I have no sympathy for the families that were woken up in the middle of the night and told to leave. These families had NO PROBLEM enjoying the PERKS of travelling with a group and the discounts they received for it; but then they want to be distanced from the "group" when there's trouble and consequences that need to be faced?:confused3 The "adults" need to accept the pros & CONS of travelling that way.

Well said! I totally agree; if you accept something at a discount, you've got to play by the rules.

Waianae, in Hawaii, is a very bad area also. Again, I say this fight was probably very gang-like and violent....

Near the end of our trip many of the Pop Warner kids were visiting the parks. I was surprised at the gang like atomosphere that these teams had. We didn't encounter any problems (besides for very annoying cheerleaders who insisted on cheering everywhere they were) but I can understand how there could have been problems.

I saw many pop warner girls boys and families in the parks day and night last week and had no problems with the kids nor the familes. Im sure that there could certainly be but I was very apprehensive to go during the tourney and very pleasantly surprised that they really had no effect on my vacation, other than adding extra people in line with me!

ITA with Disney. Back when I was a CM Pop Warner rented MGM for a night and I got to leave as it was starting and let me tell you they were running around like hoodlums. No respect for the CMs or anyone else. I am glad I got out early.

If the fight was so bad that police had to be called then Disney was well within their rights to kick them out ASAP. I just with the people involved would get off their high horses and realize who really is at fault here...themselves for not properly supervising the team members and the team members themselves for fighting. If they sue and you know it's coming I hope the judge laughs them out of the courtroom.

What is Pop Warner anyway? Is it for underprivileged kids or something?
My kids don't participate in anything to do with Pop Warner, but I believe it's a little league football organization. I'm not sure if it's just for under priveleged kids or not. :confused3

I agree with you 100%, it's time for more places to start enforcing the rules, and it's time for the parents and the chaparones to be accountable. Maybe the reason it was so late, is because the fight took place late, and someone had to make the decision but in the long run, Disney was probably smart in doing it the way they did, from a business stand point I would not my well behaved guests to witness the ones that were forced to leave and their negativity. Do I think all should be kicked out, No but that is the way it is even handled in our workplace, if one does something wrong we all pay in one way or another. I have been to Disney almost every year during Pop Warner week , and although I have not seen much in the parks, I have heard them at the resorts and the pool areas, and they show little respect for the other guests and their peace and quiet. Disney knows in order to keep the "good" people coming they have to keep up their reputation as a safe and magical place, not a place for public brawls. I also think Disney has had a lot of bad reports from past guests concerning some of the behavior of SOME of these Pop Warner kids that they are taken things more seriously.

I hope everyone who has agreed with these actions has taken the time to drop a line to Disney and let them know that their actions were totally appropropriate - and to compliment them on their handling of the situation.. I know I did - the same day I learned of this incident..

If they know how happy their guests are, I'm sure they will really pull in the reins on any subsequent groups before things reach the point where they have to evict people in the middle of the night in order to insure the safety of their other guests who are just there to relax and enjoy the magic of Disney..:thumbsup2

I posted this earlier in the thread but I wanted to reiterate it. We stayed at POR from 12/1 to 12/9. POR was the resort of choice for most of the cheerleading groups and they were there the entire time we were.

My family and I did not have any negative experiences w/ the cheerleaders or their families. They all behaved wonderfully, both at the resort, on the buses and whenever we ran into them in the parks.

I did hear some cheering at the resort but from what I could tell it was during practices.

We found the cheerleaders to be respectful, wonderful, well behaved young people.

Everyone told us how horrible POR would be during Pop Warner and to be honest it was just fine. The food court was busy a few mornings and we did wait for couple of buses on the way home during late EMH nights, but overall we weren't affected much by them at all.

I am curious... are the kids required to have an adult in each room or are they allowed four kids in a room without an adult?

I don't get the naked teenaged girls reference?

I think that poster was referring to Vanessa Hudgens (from High School Musical), someone leaked nude photos of her onto the internet a while ago. There were rumours that Disney was going to fire her, but they didn't.

You know that they may have been more well behaved this year since the past few years alot of people have been complaining about them, I know a couple of years back they were quite a few of them that were very rude and loud, last year I had made reservations for POFQ in May and when I got there they tried to put me at Riverside, I said in no uncertain terms would I move there and was told they would try other resorts, and I said NOT THE Values either, they even offered me 1 free night, I said I would rather drive back to Tampa if that were the case, and this was because of the noise issues and the pool issues I had encountered in the past. And don't say that I should chose another week if it bothered me that much, I enjoy Mousefest which just happens to be the same week. The point being if they bothered me they probably bothered others so perhaps that is why Disney decided they needed to take some actions to keep their other guests happy. I am sure that the teams were informed well in advance that they needed to be well behaved and that they needed to have more chaparones on hand. But it's a shame that there will always be a few that will ruin it for the MANY many well behaved ones. Perhaps having them move in the middle of the night was drastic but if the infraction was one that being kicked out then at no time either during the day or night would have made them happy.
