Disney Keeping MagicBands Safe?

Just when you think you've heard it all.... I noticed my magic band order stall in York, PA after slowly creeping up the East Coast. I called WDW and got the most cheerful CM I've ever spoken to who told me that it's normal for the magic bands to sit at the facility a few hours from your house to "keep them safe" till a few weeks before your trip. This sounds like complete BS but she was very convincing. This cannot be true so not sure if I should just call back and find a new CM or reach out to USPS which is a joyful experience in itself.

CM is full of it. I doubt another CM would be able to help you unless they sent replacements a different way. USPS doesn't have the item according to what you posted so that won't net you anything either.

Are you running out of time on getting them?

May 13th arrival. I don't want to deal with last minute BS so I am trying to get in front of it now. WDW has been complete fail lately.

Your BS meter is spot on.

I've seen a lot more delays from the USPS in the past couple years. My last MagicBand order (a year ago) took almost two weeks to get from Florida to me in western PA. The first 3 days it was in the hands of a shipping partner, then once USPS got it, it took 1 day to get from central PA to western PA, and then 8 more days to actually get delivered to me.

It usually takes 2 weeks for us to get Magicbands from the point they ship... I don't expect much from the transportation choices Disney makes, they're made to make them as much money as possible - not for guest convenience... overarching theme maybe?

I am at 15 days post purchase. I am not sure how to handle this but I'll give WDW a call in the AM and call them out on their BS.

It’s only been three days since they shipped? That doesn’t feel like a huge delay.
????

Where are you seeing 3 days since shipment? The OP's tracking shows that the package was picked up by the "shipping partner" on 3/15. The OP posted on 3/28. My math says that's 13 days, with no tracking updates since 3/18.

OP, it sounds like the CM that you spoke to couldn't be bothered with trying to find the correct answer. I have never heard of MBs being "held" by a shipping company to "keep them safe". If Disney wanted to do that, they wouldn't ship them out until closer to your trip.

You’re right

You’re right, I didn’t look at the date of the post. My details were off but my sentiment remains the same. If your trip is in May and it’s taking a couple weeks for them to arrive, you’re still good. Mine took a while too. As has at least 60% of everything I’ve ordered that’s not Amazon Prime-level guarantee. Trust that it will arrive! Everyone is doing more with less even USPS.

OSM is not to most expeditious when it comes to getting MagicBands to your local USPS location for final delivery. We live an hour from Davenport FL and it still takes a week or two for MagicBands to reach us after they are shipped. They sit in Austell GA before being sent back to FL.

140+ minute wait to talk to someone for a Magic Band.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother waiting on hold. The CM who picks up will not be able to help you with shipping issues. Your MBs are in the hands of a third-party shipping vendor at this point and, unfortunately, I think you just have to wait it out or try calling OSM. I know it's frustrating, but that CM that picks up your call in the FL call center today will not be able to help you. Worst case scenario if the MBs don't show up (although, I think they will - I have never had an issue with MBs showing up in time for a trip), ask for a refund and buy new MBs onsite.

My guess is (to put it in Disney terms) - your magic bands are stuck in the stand-by line, while those in the lightening lane are passing them by. The magic bands were probably shipped with the lowest priority and all the packages with genie+ are passing them by and getting on the trucks first. The CM on the phone was probably trying to reassure you that they were safe and would get there eventually without saying that Disney used the cheapest shipping possible.

Translates: CEO thanks you for being a sucker.

Ours sat somewhere mid shipment for a few weeks. I had some time until my trip so I just waited. They showed up randomly one day with no change in shipping status. No idea what they were doing or why but was glad I ordered early.

This happened to me a few times with packages (not from Disney) in the post-pandemic world. Package sits for days (sometimes weeks) at a facility mid-route, then shows up randomly one day, with or without the shipping info ever updating. Not a great feeling! But, my stuff always eventually showed up.
