Disney Jail

Actually the reason you were able to mix up the tickets is that the system is designed to allow tickets that are purchased together the be interchangeable.
Right. Disney is smart and human enough to realize that often one person will hold all the tickets, and when it's time to use them they may just get handed out and then recollected. That's why a family's tickets all bought together are linked in the system and then it's no big deal.

As for someone's belief that a computer would take more than an instant to recognize fingerprints ... PUHLEEZE! I think I have an old Texas Instruments calculator that could do it that fast.

Maybe, but only if it had good data to work on. I think the comment you are alluding to related to the actual scanning mechanism. Get an old piece of chewing gum on the scanner and see how your computer handles that!!!

Disney have thousands of people pouring through their gates when the parks open and the last thing they need is a complex system that slows down entry too much. Thats why they take crude finger measurements instead of trying to take fingerprints. it's merely an attempt to do enough to scare people into not transferring tickets.

As it is, half the time the machines don't even recognise the scan and they just let you in.

It's the difference between knowing about computer theory and understanding how to practically apply the technology in the real world.

I would hardly call the biometric system "crude."

Actually the problem is not with the machines at all. They work fine. The problem is with the guests trying to use them.

i believe they put you on the Main Street Chain Gang and clean up all the
dirty diapers that get left behind and are not disposed of properly.. lol :thumbsup2

The system does not use your finger prints. It measures a number of aspects of your fingers and assigns you a number that is not unique to you based on those measurements.

I'm not sure that I understand. What about for children whose hands are still growing?

People who are caught doing bad things are forced to ride Its a Small World over and over and over again. The little people in that ride are actually the "lost kids" that are never claimed.

wow they could make a horror movie based on that ride.

my theory was that that ride was actually made by the devil and everytime you ride it it takes another year off your life.

My husband tried to steal a disney towel on a dare from a friend when he was a teenager...They escorted him out of the park and told him he could come back tomorrow! I swear he is honest now!! :rotfl2:

:scratchin Maybe I should start asking for receipts?

One of my friends was at Disney for a convention. He and a colleague went to PI for the night. Well, his friend got into a fight with anothe patron and when the Disney Security came out of nowhere and started handling his friend, he put a hand on the guy to just say, "Hey, it wasn't my friend's fault" and was jumped by other Disney Security. They threw him and his friend into the county jail for the night.

He was then told that he is banned from WDW for life. If you knew the guy, you would say "WHAT?!" He is one of the most laid-back, passive people I know.

The problem is he now has 2 small kids and his DW loves Disney. We keep wanting to plan a trip with them, but don't know what will happen when we mention his name. This happened about 3-4 yrs ago.

Hmmm I SO WANT to comment on this. But i "cant yet". Anybody else catching my drift?

When I was there in 98 with my highschool marching band one of the kids in the band got caught stealing, or rather trying to steal a little $3 magnet.

He was held in a holding room until the band director and his parents could be reached.

He was sent home immedietly from the trip and kicked out of the marching band.

Someone in my marching band got caught by an undercover officer stealing from Universal. They were prepared to press charges, as she was 18, but my band director convinced them not to. She got to stay on the trip but when everyone got back to the hotel they went through all of her luggage. Turns out, she'd stolen from Disney, too, when they'd been there. Not sure what they did with the stuff but my band director took everything away from her she didn't have a receipt for.

Children under 10 do not need to use the scan. The measurements the system takes remain pretty much the same after that age.

1) There is no jail on premises.
2) But there are provisions available
3) Security and then police/sheriff are called.
4) Until sheriff arrives, ff necessary,
. . . they strap unruly guests to Small World boats
. . . the sheriff arrives in about 5-minutes
. . . this is enough time to calm ANY disruptive guest
. . . actually, it has a tendency to numb them

In the early 80's and in my early teens, I was staying at the Contemporary with my family. I visited a girl from Pennsylvania who was staying at the Poly, where we talked till after transportation stopped running. I decided to walk back and was picked up by security who took me into the MK behind main street.:confused3 It wasn't jail but I was a little worried about what they were going to do with me. They checked out my story and released me back at the CR without notifying my parrents, which was cool. :cool1:
