Disney is excellent for adults!!

Hubby and I are going on our 5th Disney cruise October 30th and we don't have children Either. We have a blast. We love the adult Pool. I have not been to serenity bay at CC, but plan to try it this trip.

We have sailed DCL 11 times, 3 times without the kids....we just recently came off the Magic where we celebrated our 25th anniversary onboard sans the kids.

Kids (college age) were bummed that they could not come this time. They always have a ball on DCL as well.

Wow! It's really reassuring to read threads like this one that show Disney's success for vacationing adults. In a few more weeks, my extended family and I will be embarking on our first Disney cruise as a celebration for my nephew's 12th BD. My older nephew and niece spent their 12th BD's at WDW (2000 and 2002), and since we have a few non-Disney lovers in the group this time and wanted to something different but definitely Disney, we decided to book the cruise. I've really been trying to focus those non-Disney type family members on all the adult-only places on the ship as well as the age-appropriate activies. It really is a win-win situation for all involved, and your posts just made me that much more excited! Thanks for your honesty and enthusiasm.

when cruising as just adults, do you still get the opportunity to pose with the characters? or is that frowned upon from parents with kids?

Yes, adults can pose with characters. Just wait in line with everyone else or you might be lucky enough to catch them on deck for a quick picture. We got pictures with Mickey, Goofy and Donald Duck at an impromtu deck party due to cancelled activities because of bad weather.

I also have to agree with the OP. Disney is great for adults. DH and I just returned from our sixth Disney cruise a few weeks ago. It was our best vacation ever. It just keeps getting better and better! We have three more booked. Yes, we are official Disney Cruise addicts!

This is all so true! DH and I just spent our "Disneymoon" on the wonder for a 4 day cruise and it was perfect. This was our second 4 day cruise on the wonder and it was even better than the first time. We are 30 and 31 and we got the strangest looks when asked about our honeymoon. I mean really isn't WDW the number 1 honeymoon destination! Then when you combine that with the cruise! :teeth: Good times!!! I would recommend a DC for and couple! However I think that after we have kids it will be a totally different experience. Maybe to make it easy I will decorate our kids rooms to look like flounders nursery and the oceanieers club! :teeth:

On our first cruise in 2001 my DH and I went to lumieres for lunch. We were paired off with another couple. During the course of our conversation they told us that they didn't tell their kids about the trip. They called their kids from the port to tell them they were getting on the ship. They didn't want to take the chance that their kids and grandkids would tag along. This was too funny. My DH and I still laugh about this. We look forward to someday calling our kids from the port to tell them we are getting on the ship LOL.

Hi all,

glad to see so many people feel like I do!!

to Disneycruiser - you can definately pose with the characters - I have so many pictures with them. I was just saying that you didn't have to wait. In fact on the last night, there were characters all over the main lobby area doing autographs - my mom and I used our digital camera and got pictures with about all of them. We also posed with some when lines weren't too long and ended up buying lots of pictures from the photo shop. I also found pluto on the promenade and got a great picture with him,

BTW, I missed this one - the pictures from the disney cruise were the absolute best of any cruise - colorful, quality photos that we now all have up in our homes!

Happy cruising to all!!

Great thread. We recently took our very first cruise. It was aboard the Wonder back in May and we had our 3 kids with us. When DH and I started talking about a second annual parents only trip, we didn't hesitate to book another Disney cruise. We're doing a 4 day this time around and I'm really looking forward to it. Last year we did WDW on our own and it was terrific.
