We arrived the Friday before Irma hit. We seen cars traveling on the the Northbound side of the interstate were bumper to bumper as everyone was leaving the state. We, on the other hand, had the the Southbound side practically to ourselves. We debated a lot about going, but in the end we believed that Irma was going to stay East along the coast (which did not happen).
Saturday before Irma, we went to Epcot. We had breakfast at the Garden Grill (Many empty tables). We then went to ride "Soarin". We had the ride all to ourselves. No one else was on it. They sat us in row one front and center. When the ride was over, they invited us to stay on and ride it again, so we did.
Sunday & Monday (parks closed). But the rest of the week was beautiful. Tuesday & Wednesday we did not see a single drop of rain. Thursday it did not rain at all until we were leaving the park around 6:30. No rain at all on Friday.
Crowds were low all week. With the exception of flight of passage, we hardly waited on any rides for more then 10 to 15 minutes. We rode FOP 3 times. Once at rope drop (waited 23 minutes), once with a fast pass, and once we waited for an hour and 15 minutes.
What we were afraid was going to be the worst vacation week ever, turned out to be one of the best.
Having said that, we reflect that while we were having fun, other people were dealing with a lot heartache & problems left in Irma's path. We were fortunate & blessed and wish only the best to those who are having to pick up the pieces.
