Disney Internet Enters Phone Arena

Disney Internet Group said on Tuesday it has signed a deal to provide wireless phone content in the Philippines through Globe Telecom, in its latest such agreement in Asia.

Under the deal, the Internet unit of Disney will provide logos, text cards and ringtones based on Disney characters and other properties to Globe Telecom users on a subscription basis.

The Filipino network has more than 4 million subscribers.

Clearly another example of the present management's desperate attempts to make a larger profit through blatant commercialization of the characters.

True, but have you looked at their stock price lately? They're down at $20 a share, more or less. This is definitely a vote with your pocketbook move by investors regarding the current directions the company has been going...

Who can blame them for getting desperate? I'm just hoping that they finally get desperate enough to remove M. Eisner and put somebody who cares about quality in the driver's seat.
