I just spoke to my guide and was told that new DVC resort at the the old Disney Institute site would be named

Disney Saratoga Resort and Spa (not sure spa will be included in the name or not).

He thinks the price will go up next year becuase it goes up every year. He expects BCV to be sold out by Easter next year.

That sounds great. It would seem to be named after Saratoga Springs in upstate NY- very fitting as a popular spa area of the past century with a wonderful history in addition.

They will have the opportunity for some nice theming. This will also fit nicely with the Chatauqua theming that already exists for the buildings remaining from the former DI.

I'm anxious to see some renderings of the design.

Stay tuned! :)

Hooray now we have a name and we'll be anxiously awaiting all the news information as it is released. Is the scheduled open date still sometime in 2004? Did they say when the selling will begin?

Very interesting. Thanks for the news.

My guide thinks the pre-sale may begin sometimes next year since the projection is to have BCV sold out by Easter.

He thinks the end date for this one will also be 2042, like all the others.

Anyone know if they are going to keep or rebuild the treehouse villas?

Disney Saratoga Resort and Spa

so what will be the shorthand for this resort?

SR
SRS
SRV
VSR

Thanks for the update!!!

I think it should be given just an extra touch of charisma. Disney's Saratoga Spring's Resort & Villa's, SSRV for short!!!

I still like the idea of Eagle Pine's even though the resort seems to be shelved for the moment :(

Thanks for the update!!;)

yesdisneyfool,

I see you have 4 trips planned in the next 9 months. I wonder if anybody can top that??;)

Thanks for the update.

Any speculation on what the cost of points might be like?

I'm afraid I don't know how to do those nifty countdown things others have, but I do know how to book dvc trips!

8/30-9/7 OKW
10/4-6 OKW
11/1-11/11 CBR, OKW (grand villa), BCV
11/26-12/2 VWL, ASMu
12/31-1/4 OKW
1/18-21 OKW
2/2-6 Disney Wonder
3/15-21 HH (grand villa)
5/3-7 OKW
That's 9 months ;-)

We're doing a non-Disney trip in June - cruise on Holland America Line.

Sue,

It must be nice to live in Florida and be that close!!!!!!;)

Just curious of how many points do you have and how close are you to WDW?:D

Four trips for me in seven months.

Oct 20, five nights BVC
Dec 29, five nights BWV, CP on Dec. 30

25th anniversary...
Feb 1, two nights VWL
Feb 3, two nights BCV
Feb 5, two nights Vero Beach
April 5, DCL eastern cruise

Now maybe the first week in March for Daughter's College spring break.......

Always travel on NWA or Continental, and now maybe Delta!!!

I was told 1-1/2 weeks ago that it would be called Saratoga Springs but I couldn't remember the rest so I didn't post it. I was also told SS would have a Cape Cod theme.

Spruce,

You might be right. I couldn't remember if it has "Spring" or not. From my guide's tone, it seems that there will also be some sort of incentives offered when they have the pre-sale, just not sure what it is yet.

It is - I definitely couldn't go to wdw nearly as often if I had to buy airline tickets! I'm 3 hours (by car) away, and have 1,000 points (bought a little at a time...started with 190). That sounds like a lot, but when you start splurging to book grand villas with friends and also cruise.....it's easy to end up borrowing from the next year! :D

Can't wait to see the designs for Saratoga. I bet it will be very "quaint"... :) :)
