I just recently found out that Disney Institute is holding one of their courses in my area! The course is "sponsored" locally. Has anyone had any experience taking a Disney Institute course like this? Was the experience worth it? I'd really love to take part in it but I have basically no knowledge on this subject. There is also one being held in Disneyland during the dates of my family vacation. Any thoughts on that? As they are held at WDW as well, I was hoping someone may have taken them!

My wife and I took several of these classes at the Disney Institute before it became the Saratoga Springs Vacation Club location. They were taught by great instructors and we learned allot.

What is the class topic? If it seems interesting to you, then go for it.

It's one of the professional events, so it's Disney's Approach to Quality Service. As I'm a college student looking to enter the working world in the near future, I thought it may be a good opportunity for me. However, is it just a normal business type class or is there a lot of Disney involved? I don't want to pay for a class that I could take anywhere for much cheaper.

I went to something like this many years ago. It was a breakfast for a professional group I belonged to and the speaker was from DI. It was really cool, but for me it was free. There was quite a lot of Disney info at the session I saw. If it isn't cost prohibitive, I'd say go. Even if it ends up not being Disney-centric you might learn something, maybe work it into your resume. :earsboy:

. . . is it just a normal business type class or is there a lot of Disney involved? . . .

1) There are references to Disney.
2) But, this is a business class/seminar.
3) Do not look for or expect a Disney lecture. *

* Based upon the topic, it could be more Disneyfied. They do have a
class of The Disney Way which is very Disney-centric. Otherwise, no.

My wife and I are teachers in a rather progressive school District. We may be able to get funding for a summer fellowship. We are thinking that the Disney Institute Creativity and Innovation course in Orlando followed up by several days of back stage tours at the theme parks may fit into the requirements to study/experience ideas and strategies that are out of the box thinking to reshape public education. Has anyone who has attended this class any feedback that may help us think this through? Thanks in advance.

I'd assume it's something similar to the book Be Our Guest - about Disney's views and ways of customer service. It would look good on a resume as many fortune 500 companies refer to it at times.
