Disney in September?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the crowds at Disney World in late September.

I generally like to travel in May when the crowds are light and the weather isn't too hot yet but we have a nice September opportunity.

Thank for the opinions.

We went last year from 9/20 - 9/27 and we thought the crowds were light. We didn't wait long for any ride or attraction. In fact, we rode Buzz Lightyear about 5 times in a row - no wait.

Hope that holds true again this year.

Thanks Judy, that's what I was hoping to hear.

What about the weather? I know it's technically Hurricaine season but late in the season.

Thanks again.

Weather is HOT..... dress appopiately..... Sister in Law lives there... spends Aug and Sept in her house with her A/C on.

Sept is usually light on crowds... However this year kids have two days in a row off from School.... I know of a lot of familys that are taking advantage of this and going...

We have always planned our trips for Sept. and highly recommend it. We went to Disney in early May (on "business") and I couldn't believe how crowded it was (compared to Sept.).

The weather varies (like it does anywhere), but I think it's a great time to go. I can handle the heat - it's the crowds that annoy me. :sunny:

We love going in September! Weather is usually nice (unless there's a hurricane coming (eek) and the lines are minimal. But sshhh don't let anyone else in on our little secret that it's one of the best times to go!

Have fun!

I am also a habitual Disney in Septemberer. My kids are toddlers, so it makes the most sense for us, but next year my oldest will be in Kindergarden, so I don't know what I'll do then:sad:

Last year we did WDW Sept. 20-28 and there were no crowds!
We too, usually are a May gang but we went for DS 5th b-day. There were LESS people than in May but it was MUCH MORE HUMID! I was shocked! I thought the weather would be similar to May but not so! It was about 92 and humid EVERY day. No rain, only shine and short lines!
Have fun!

P.S. I would and am taking my 3rd grader and Kindergartener out of school in November for the youngest DD's 5th b-day with no regrets or fears.......teachers know about it and said they wish they could come too!!!!!!Traveling is what you make of it.....make it fun AND educational:wave2:

Our first trip this year was in May, which was HOT and crowded. We've heard so many people say how much they enjoyed they're trip in September, we're giving it a try. I have already found making PS is easier. 12 more days!:sunny:

Samoyed --- what two days do the kids have off from school in September? Are these the Jewish Holidays?
Thanks :)

The days NY kids have off are Sept 16 and Sept 17. I know of a lot of family's going then..

We are going to Disney on September 24th. I can't believe it's only 8 days away.
Is anyone going between Sept 24th and Sept 30th? We are starying at CRB.
DH, DS9, DD5, and myself DM. Any helpful hints?

We just got back and guess what I waited the longest for? Malestrom in Norway! :rotfl2: About 12-15 mins! :lmao: Several times we were the only people on a ride, like IaSM, Figment, CoP, Ariel's Grotto! We just walked right up and talked to Ariel! Amazing!

We evacuated to Disney last year because we couldn't go home for a while after Katrina. It was the second week in September. The weather was fine and the lines weren't long at all. We are going again in a week :cool1:

I will say that the best month we've ever experienced at Disney was February. The weather was awesome and the lines were nonexistent!

We just got back and the weather was HOT! It was too hot. The 'love bugs' are a huge nuisance as well. Next time we hope to go in October when it is cooler and no bugs.

We went last week, we go every Sept because the crowds are so light. We walked on and off virtually every ride. TOT had zero wait time! We went on Space Mountain 3 times in a row. Expedition Everest had the longest wait, 15 minutes, so we did fastpasses for it and rode 3 times. A CM told us the crowds really don't start picking up until the Food & Wine Festival starts at the end of the month. There was not a day last week when we thought it was too hot. Then again we spent alot of time in the pool at Boardwalk.

I am in Tampa and it is great outside right now. Great for our standards! 85 degrees and it is sooooo nice in the shade. We will continue to do September as long as we can.

We just got back and I have to say that September is Great!

We arrived on a Saturday and the lines were 30 min at the most. We fastpassed for a few and I thought that it was going to be a good vacation. Then on Monday and even more so on Tuesday...The crowds (if you could even call them that) completely disappeared! We have a 3 year old DD so we rider switched for a bunch of rides. We barely had to! We would walk up to the fastpass line and made it to the front as just as fast as a regular stand by rider. We literally walked on to Expedition Everest. We had so much extra time because we never waited in a line that we took extra time and relaxed while we ate our Free Dining meals! Win. Win. Win.

We are making plans to go next Sept as well!

Go for It!!!

We leave Friday (yippee) and typically go the last week of Sept. to avoid crowds, but catch the first day or two of F&W and MNSSH. It is usually still warm enough for the water parks, but not blistering and crowds are easy during the week. I think you see it pickup on weekends, but not terrible.

I will say I have never had so much trouble getting ADR's but that is likely due to DDP, not that there are that many more people coming!
