We must have been in a different universe because the parks were heaven right before and right after Irma. There wasn't any real type of a crowd even on our last WDW park day on the 15th. Gah so many rides were walk on and we got rolling FPs a lot.Never again. Went a couple days after Irma blew threw and the most of the theme parks--especially MK!-- were wall to wall people because of cancelled and rescheduled vacations. The water parks were empty though! We expected it to be hot and humid, however, one of the members of our party got a paper cut on the back of her leg at a water park and the bandaid kept falling off because she was sweating so much. The bandaid turned into a bandage and the minor cut turned into a bigger cut that would not heal or close due to the humidity. There is no telling how many places she bled and sweated all over the parks in the course of a week. Within half a day of coming home from her trip the cut dried up and started healing normally because she lived in a place with less humidity.
We've been over the summer, and didn't feel that much difference in temperture. What was annoying was the September is considered "off season" so the parks close early...super frustrating to be shoved out of a busy park at 8pm or earlier in warm evening weather. Might as well just do summer with the extended hours at that point.
I just got back and have some advice regarding rain. Pack a light rain jacket and take it with you to the park on the days where rain is forecast. Not a poncho, a rain jacket. You can find them on Amazon. We were at Epcot on Sunday and it rained lightly for a while. It eventually stopped, but rain was forecast intermittently the rest of the day. We had ponchos but quickly realized we'd need rain protection more than once, so a poncho was not the best for us. Plus, they can be cumbersome and a pain in the rear to wear. My friend and I made a judgement call and purchased the Helly Hansen rain jackets from the Norway pavilion. This was a big purchase at $100 (luckily we only paid $80 with passholder discount). These were wonderful and made the rain much more bearable! We felt much better in those than in ponchos. Take a look at Amazon or your favorite outdoor store and come prepared, so you're not making a $80-100 judgement call during your trip!
planning a trip for September. Who has experience with Disney in September?! Getting nervous ab weather. Have any tips?
