Hurricanes and rain
Rain is always possible in the summer through early fall because that's our rainy season. Have some ponchos from the dollar store handy and you'll be good. As far as hurricanes go, you will have plenty of warning if a storm could potentially impact central Florida. Hurricane's don't normally impact central Florida directly, so I wouldn't let it keep you from booking your trip in September because the crowds can be less after Labor Day!Hurricanes and rain

As far as temps are concerned there is virtually no difference between September and August. Google some weather sites and look at historical data for the area. Any drops in temps are very gradual in September and October. Maybe there's less humidity, but hot is hot. Worried about hurricanes? I've become friends with a Dis-er who was there during Irma last year and had a really good time because so many people cancelled their trips--no crowds!(They did have to stay in the resort for a day or so but they made the best of it.)
