hi all,

we are going to disney with our 4 yo daughter Nov 28 - dec 3. I went there 23 years ago so technically it is all of our first time! :) I have two questions (for now....I'm sure I'll have more later) :)

1) how crowded/uncrowded will it be during this time? this is the week after thanksgiving.

2) would you recommend going to fantasyland first and then Toonland right as it opens or should we do Toonland first? DD loves the princesses but also is in love with pictures of the castle, merry-go-rounds, etc.

Thanks all; can't wait to go.

Not sure about the 'toon' stuff but we went last year on the same dates as you are planning. Magical is what comes to mind! WDW is 'dressed for Christmas' and so beautiful. Crowds weren't bad at all except for the MVMCP-but we didn't have kids so didn't appreciate it as much as someone with young kids. Take layers, it got chilly at night-glad I brought my gloves-days were fine. Fantasyland? To me, all of it was 'fantasyland' with all those beautiful decorations! Enjoy!

The week after Thanksgiving til the week before Xmas is relatively quiet. That's not to say there won't be a few long lines...We went Dec 4-10th last year and never really experienced many crowds. Pop Warner is typically there the first full week of Dec. You may want to do a thread search on Pop Warner and see what week they'll be there. We were there the same time as them and barely noticed they were there. I THINK you'll miss them.

I would go to Fantasyland first. Ride a few attractions, then grab a FP for Peter Pan or Pooh and head over to Toon Town. Do Toon Town and then hop back for your FP.......

From what I've read, do Fantasyland first, then toontown. If you have an EMH morning, then I've read to take advantage of the that for Fantasyland.

This is our first trip going early Dec, but have heard that it's slow...which is good...more rides for me :woohoo:

Mary,
We went at this same time last year for our 1st family trip to WDW and
it was WONDERFUL!!!! Low, low crowds and great weather! The 28th, 29th and 30th will be great days!! It will pick up on the weekend, especially for MK because they usually film the Christmas parade that Fri. and Sat. You should hit Fantasyland first and then ToonTown because it opens an hour later. Hit MK on the 28th, 29th, or 30th for a great experience in ToonTown and definitely hit princesses first thing. This was my only regret last year.
On our Tues. after Thanksgiving we went to MK and hit ToonTown when it opened and rode Goofy's Barnstormer 3 or 4 times and there was hardly no one in the park and I saved the characters for Friday and on Friday we went to see Mickey first and by the time we got back in line for princesses, that line was too long!! I should have went to see the princesses that Tues.
By the way, my youngest daughter was 3 1/2 and she loved it all!
Anyway you will have a wonderful time!!

what great feedback!!!!!!! I loved it all. btw, anyone been to the Merry Christmas parade? Is is worth it? Its kind of late at night and don't know if dd will be out of steam by then so really don't want to spend the $$$. Is it possible to get tickets the day of or am I dreaming?? :)

We went that same week in 2005 as well. I found crowd levels to be very managable. We only had to use FP a few times. EMH (if you staying at a Disney Resort) are great. Crowds were even lower, except for the lines to get on the buses back to the hotel. At MGM on a Sun night EMH I rode RnRC twice. NO Lines at ALL. Just had to wait for the group in front of us to clear the room where they show the video with the band. It was also very nice to wander around the Streets of America with light crowds late at night. That area does get very crowded around 6pm because that is around the time when they turn on the Osborne Lights.

Most of the resturaunts were pretty busy, especially on the weekends. So if there is any place you want to eat at, definately make your reservations now if you haven't already.

The nights of MVMCP, crowds are very light late in the from 4-6. (park closes at 6 or 7 and then is only open to those with MVMCP tickets. But until that time ride lines are light. If there is any amount of rain in the mornings, the parks will be very very light. That is what happened last year the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It rained in the AM, but cleared by late AM and by 1pm the weather was great. We rode every ride with the longest wait being 10-15 minutes (Peter Pan and Indy, we walked on to Pooh, IASM, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Thunder mountain, Buzz 3 or 4 times, etc.

its definately a good week to go. We are going to do it again in '07 and do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party again! WOOO HOOOO.

The week you are going is relatively a slow time so crowds should be minimal! Go to fantasyland first, if there are long lines, pick up fast passes....Toon Town is not that busy, especiallly during off-peak times! Take your time, follow your daughters lead, and have a wonderfully, magical "first" visit to WDW......you'll be back....and not 23 years later....it'll be more like one, two, or three years!!!!!
