Disney in July

I have spent a summer at WDW - it was hot and crowded but I really enjoyed it! When I had an AP and lots of time, it totally changed the way I do Disney - knowing I had lots of time to explore was absolutely liberating! I found that about four hours in the parks was just perfect - I spent the rest of the time at the resort or tooling around Orlando. I might go for just a meal or fireworks - and if the crowds became too much I just went back to my resort or to another park etc. I even spent July 4th at Epcot and it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it would be. Enjoy!

We went last July and are going back this July. It might have been a fluke, but last trip was some of the lowest crowds I'd ever seen. Yes it was hot, but I wasn't bothered by it. We RDed and took breaks with lunch ADRs or by popping into AC attractions.

We went one year in July and found it to be super hot and humid. If you are going for a whole month in July, I'd try to rent a house not too far from Disney World, with a pool.

Thanks! I am checking everywhere! I am looking at homeaway too - have you ever booked through them? That would be incredible if I could find a rental for under $2000 for the month! I am not having luck finding anything that cheap!
I've had good luck with homeaway, and VRBO (vacation rental by owner).

I would check the orlando forum or even post in there for your rental needs.. lots of info on that orlando area forum..

As far as heat, it's like anywhere with extreme cold. You get more picky on when your in it and tend to go a/c to a/c.. This might not sound friendly to visiting the sights and parks but after the first week you'll be more selective in what your doing at the parks and will sort out how to do it in the heat much easier. It was a concern I had when I moved down here and took a week or two to sort out how to be in it.. you'll do fine..

Crowds won't matter as much as well, for a few weeks you can just "come back tomorrow".

Have a great summer!

Well hope it holds true for this year as we are going the first week in July ..
Me too! I would love it if the crowds are manageable. Touring Plans is showing that week as all 7/10 with AK being an actual 10 on July 6th for some reason. As for the heat, I know I am going to melt and be miserable because of it, but I am going to concentrate my touring to evenings since the fireworks are my reason to be there.

Sounds like a wonderful opportunity to leisurely explore WDW in the early morning and evenings. Yes, I would never tour the parks any time mid-June thru September for that matter if I could go other times of the year but you have a unique situation. Go for it!

I agree :) I told the kids we would most likely not be in the parks all day - just mornings and evenings.

Thank you :) I agree - it is nice knowing we will have plenty of time to get it all done!

Wow, I'd love to spend the month there! The closest I came was 2 weeks in August, and it was one of our best vacations.

I didn't get a chance to read thru the whole thread, but if you're going to do this, get your AP's ahead of time. You can book 30 days ahead, but you can only have 7 days booked at a time.

I did read enough to see VRBO and a couple others mentioned. Sometimes a good way to find places is to look on VRBO, then see if the owner (or an owner's group) has their own website. You might save a little... If I were looking, I'd probably try to stay in Windsor Hills, Windsor Palms or maybe some of the houses in the Formosa Gardens/Emerald Island area. Distance to WDW is quite short, especially if you use the Sherberth Rd. entrance. In Windsor Hills, there's a large community pool and the townhouses have their own small pool. When we rented in Formosa Gardens awhile back, we had a pool and a mickey shaped hot tub.

July isn't far away...I'd get on it right away if that's what you're going to do.

We aren't staying for a month, but 8 days coming up in July 2017. :dancer: Arriviing July 6.

This will be our first time in July, but we have been twice in August and once in September. I'm thinking constant water-drinking will be required. The heat nor the crowds have ever bothered us too much that time of year, however I do expect July crowds to be noticeably more than August crowds. Here's to July! :drinking1
