Disney in December

We are arriving at Disney on Saturday, Dec. 4. We have a dd6, dd4, and two ds2. I really love to go straight to MK when we get there, but I am worried about the crowds since its a weekend.

Any advise?

It shouldn't be too bad in early Dec., even with it being a weekend. It'll be a little bit more crowded on the weekend then during the week though but everything will be manageable.

We're arriving Dec. 6th and staying through the 18th at Fort Wilderness with DS12 and DD8.

Hi, I just wanted to add that we will be arriving on Dec. 5th and staying thru the 17th at FW--our 1st visit to FW, second to DW. We have DD11 and DS6. We cant wait, hope the parks aren't too busy. I heard it is a pretty slow time to go but we are not going to any parks on the Saturday we are there.

It's a great time to visit WDW, but Saturday at MK is busy at just about any time of year. You could always try, but be sure you have an alternate plan if the park is packed.

We have been at MK for the last 2 years at the same time and while it will be busier than the rest of the parks, it still is very manageable.

Hey! You can add us to this time frame as well!! We arrive on Thurs., 12/2 through Sat., 12/11.....also staying at Fort Wilderness!! Since check in is at 1 pm or later, I don't want to waste a park hopper on half a day. After we set up, we're going to explore FW, the kids are begging for us to let them go off to the petting zoo alone while we are getting the site set up (who are they kidding, they just don't want to help! ), we're probably going to grab an early dinner at Trail's End, then later that evening, head down to the beach for a Mickey Bar, some fireworks and the electrical boat parade!!

December is such a great time to go & the MK is so fantastic with all its Christmas finery! For us, MK is always our first stop of the trip, so I say go for it! You'll be so excited to be there that you won't care if its crowded. You don't have to stay long if it's crazy. But for me, I don't feel like I'm at WDW until I've been to the MK.

It might be a little more crowded because of the cheerleader competition which will be held in and around that date. They don't leave until the 11th but everything is so decorated it will be a thrill. we will be there 11th - 18th. Have fun

Don't they film the Christmas parade on the first Saturday in December? I've read here on the DIS that it was a total zoo at MK during the taping. Just something to keep in mind.

My teen would love to know when the parade is taped. We will be there from Thankgiving until the end of the first week of December. Does anybody know the day it will be taped this year????

Would love to be able to tell them that it was during our visit.

I've heard they film the 1st weekend, too. But I also saw one or two posts saying it was filmed later in the month.

I figure if you just stay off Main Street and avoid the parade route when possible, it might not be too bad. The 4th is our 1st day there, too, and we HAVE to do MK first. We just do, it's a "thing".

We plan on being at the entrance 1 hr prior to opening, and have the UG 1 day adult plan at the ready. If it's not that crowded, great. But if so, we're prepared!

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I've been twice in early December, and even then, I will NOT go the MK on a Saturday. Especially if you can't get their prior to opening. It's always so much more crowded on Saturday. I would wait and go on Sunday if I were you (but I believe that is EE day as well). Last December we did AK on Saturday, decent crowds, MGM on Sunday and waited until Monday to do MK, and it worked out really well for us.

When we were there they were filming for the parade on the first and second Saturday of December.
