Day 8, Friday December 12th
The cast
Me, Erika, 34, Disney obsessed for as long as I can remember
DH, Steve, 36, extremely tolerant of my obsession, loves Disney vacations
DS, Matthew, 10 ½, loves Disney World, tried many new things this trip
DD, Alexa, 7 (almost 8), as Disney crazy as I am
Today we were going to the character breakfast at the Cape May Café. We were not just going for breakfast, but to meet a good friend of mine from these boards, Torismom, aka Jennifer. Jenn and I met 3 ½ years ago on AOL and have been great friends ever since. This is our second face to face meeting, and we hope to add a 3rd next October for Mickeys Halloween Party. As usual, we cannot get our butts out of bed and going in a decent amount of time. We were going to be late, so I ran ahead and walked very quickly (well part of the way, I slowed down when I hit the hill between the BW and the BC) to make our PS time. I was huffin and puffin when I checked in a few minutes late, and Jenn came in right behind me. We were seated in a just a few minutes, a PS for 9, and we ate and ate and ate. Jenn and her family are such wonderful people, I am so lucky to have such a great friend. Jenn and I made a quick trip to the gift shop before we parted ways, looking for DVC merchandise. Unfortunately there is not enough of it available. Then it was time to say goodbye. It was a great time and hopefully well meet in person again soon.
We headed off to Epcot for another spin on Test Track and catch anything we missed. By the time we got to Test Track, the line said 40 minutes. We got fastpasses and went over to hit the Innovations building that we didnt go to earlier in the week. This one seemed to have mostly video games in it, which is exactly what my kids like. Ds and dh built rollercoasters on the Ultimate Ride game (which ended up becoming a Christmas present for ds) and dd and I went and tried the games you play with your feet. I am so glad there was no one watching because I can only imagine how dumb I looked trying to play this dancing game with my 7 yr old. It is not easy!!!!!!!!!! We failed right off the bat. The Jungle Book one was ok, but the dancing one, forget it!!! We went back for our fast pass time, and we discovered that even though the sign said 30 minutes for the single rider line, that there was none at all. Dd really wanted to ride Test Track twice today, but the lines were just too long. While we were going through the fast pass line I told her the only way we could do it was to do the single riders line and she might have to ride all by herself. She wasnt real thrilled with this idea. Once we got off of our ride, she decided if that was the only way to ride again, then she would do it. Again the single riders line said 30 minutes, but when we got inside, there were 3 people in line in front of us. I was hoping that dd would end up in the car with at least one of us, but knew it might not happen. As it turns out, she rode in the same car with dh, so that was good. Ds ended up going in the car in front of them, and I had to wait for another group of cars to come in and load. She was so happy now, this ride is very high on her favorites list.
Now it was time for me to be happy, time to shop at Mousegears!!!!!!!!! I had not been in there yet on this trip, and shopping is my thing. I didnt really buy too much, they didnt have the jacket or shirt I wanted either, but I was still happy to look around. I wanted to get a Beavertail for a light lunch on the way back to the hotel, but when we got to the cart it was closed. I was not happy, I had been wanting one all week. Instead I ended up with Nacho chips and cheese by the pool. It was an absolutely beautiful day, so the kids spent the afternoon in the pool, and I went in the hot tub. We made a second visit to Beaches and Cream for dinner (the hot dog is just sooooooooooo good) and the kids wanted to play in the arcade. While they were playing I went to see if they had anything good at the YC gift shop. There was the jacket I wanted, but of course, still in the wrong size. When I got back dh had also immersed himself in video games. Dd and I got bored and left the boys to their games. Once they returned, we decided to go over and see Illuminations one more time before we left. It was a nice idea. We always seem to have one time on each trip that goes badly, and this was our night. I grabbed a jacket for Epcot and put what I needed in my pockets. I left the fanny pack behind. One thing I forgot about, was to put Alexas ear plugs in my pockets. She hates loud noises, and uses her ear plugs a lot at WDW. She found out I forgot them and lost it. She basically walked around in tears because she was afraid of the loud, and didnt think plugging her ears would be good enough. Matthew found his in his pockets but he didnt want to give his up either. Everyone was getting really grouchy, so we ended up leaving and going back to the hotel. That was a nice walk into the park and back out. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
