Day 6, Wednesday December 10th

The cast…

Me, Erika, 34, Disney obsessed for as long as I can remember
DH, Steve, 36, extremely tolerant of my obsession, loves Disney vacations
DS, Matthew, 10 ½, loves Disney World, tried many new things this trip
DD, Alexa, 7 (almost 8), as Disney crazy as I am

Today was finally our day for Test Track. I was a little worried about going to Epcot today, as it was early entry and I knew we would never make it there anywhere near 8 am. It was actually 9:15 before we got there. Today was cloudy when we got up, and the forecast was for rain later. Um, yeah, that’s why it was raining when we walked out of the hotel. Oh well, at least I don’t have to haul everyone’s sunglasses today. We walk to the International Gateway in the rain. Not pouring, just rain, but of course we didn’t bring our ponchos this trip. About halfway to future world the rain picks up. We duck under a kiosk umbrella (since they aren’t open yet) and wait a few minutes, and it nearly stops. We finally head to test track and grab a fast pass. Only one hour out from now, not bad. Still raining slightly, hopefully it will stop, I don’t really want to go 65 MPH with rain in my face. Dh decides he’s going to try Mission Space. He will have to go alone, you couldn’t pay me enough to ride a ride with air sickness bags on it. The line says only 5 minutes. He gets inline, and the kids and I go through the gift shop. Matthew decided to play the game with all the other people, where you work together to fix the ships (sorry I forgot the name) and he loves it! Alexa plays in the Space Base playground area and decides it’s a really cool place to go (she begs a few times later to go again). Dh gets out and says it’s cool, but he was expecting more with all of the hype. It’s almost time for our fastpass time, but not quite. We find that the standby line, which says 20 minutes, is only around 5 minutes in reality, so we get inline. Alexa is a little nervous, but excited to ride for the first time. I warn her during the pre-show (I can’t stand this pre-show) that they are just being funny. We finally get our turn, and she loves it! We immediately go back out through the fast pass line and ride again. At this point dh talks ds into riding Mission Space. The line is still only five minutes (and I was so worried about arriving late for early entry) so off they go. Alexa is really happy to go back to the Space Base. Ds was apparently quite worried about all the warnings, but ends up loving the ride, and of course, feels none of the effects. We have never done Ellen’s Universe of Energy, so we go get in line. It is starting to sprinkle (we’ve been dry since we picked up our fastpasses). We send Matthew to find out how long we have to wait. 2 minutes the guy says, I sure hope it’s a quick two minutes. It starts raining hard, just as we walk into the theater. This was a pretty cool attraction, but none of us much care for the movies that make you feel like your flying. Dh later tells me that Mission Space and Test Track twice, followed immediately by Ellen, is not a good idea. Food would be a good idea. Following my rule of always having a Fast Pass when you eat, we grab one for the Living with the Land ride, then eat at the Sunshine whatever food court. This works so great, I can never understand why everyone doesn’t do this. I love this ride, but not enough to wait 20 minutes for it. It’s so easy to grab the fast pass then eat right there. After lunch and the Land we decided to check out Figment for the first time. We have never done this one before, and as luck would have it, there was no line at all. Figment is very cute, my dd loved him. We took a Kodak photo and e-mailed it to a few people when we were finished, then went to watch the water jump outside. OK, the weather guys are way off, it’s now totally sunny, and none of us have sunglasses. I can’t stand it anymore, so we go and buy glasses for me, and hats for the other 3. DD got the cutest baseball cap with Tinkerbell, that says “don’t even Tink about it”. $76 later and the sun is out of our eyes. The kids want to do Innoventions, so we head over there. I can’t remember which is west and which is east. Dd went nuts over a game of virtual tag with 4 Disney characters. I think she played 3 times. I stopped at the pin shop on my way in there and saw 4 Annual Passholder pins and of course, I just had to have them. After Innoventions, while we still needed the hats and glasses, we could see dark clouds moving in. We headed back towards the hotel, via the world showcase. We stopped for a Churro in Mexico, another first, quite yummy, then rode the river ride in there. It’s very pretty in there, I love how it looks like a starry evening. I overheard a woman telling her friend that she rode “fast track, the space thing, and body wars, bad idea”. I had to laugh at her as I walked by, I rode Body Wars once when I was 21, with a cast iron stomach, never, EVER, again. The sky was looking like heavy rain so we bypassed the other countries at a quick stroll and went back to the hotel. We open the door to our hotel room, and what do we find??? Our boxes from Netgrocer!!! 5 days after they were supposed to be delivered. Now I have 24 bottles of water, 20 juiceboxes and a jar of spaghetti sauce, and 3 days left to use them. Real nice service. Once again, it was dinner decision time. There is not a ton at the Boardwalk for fast food for picky eaters. I ended making mac and cheese for Alexa and we ran down to the pizza window and got some pizza slices for the rest of us. My original plan for this night, was to go the MK to see Wishes, I figured it was a better day than a Saturday. The rain had me worried about my plan all day. We decided to go the Marketplace instead because of the rain. Of course, it didn’t rain the rest of the night LOL. I love the World of Disney store, it’s like heaven to me. They still didn’t have the shirt and jacket I wanted, but I had no problem dropping $520 after my AP discount LOL. I got some Italian charms for my bracelet and a watch for a new bracelet, a new Mickey watch and some shirts and stuff and a ton of pins for the kids. Then we had to go stuff our Potato head box (only to find out we could have done it at the parks too). I had horrible times with my room charge here and the pin shop, they had to call the resort, and it took probably 20 minutes each time. Then I got home to find out I was double charged for both stores. Oh well, they’re fixing it for me. Now it was so late, we had to just get back to the hotel and crash. Maybe next year I’ll get to the home store, the Christmas store and Basin.
