Day 5, Tuesday December 9th
Me, Erika, 34, Disney obsessed for as long as I can remember
DH, Steve, 36, extremely tolerant of my obsession, loves Disney vacations
DS, Matthew, 10 ½, loves Disney World, tried many new things this trip
DD, Alexa, 7 (almost 8), as Disney crazy as I am
Dh and ds had to get up really early today, 6:15, as I had booked them on the Magic Behind our Steam Trains tour at the MK. My son is a train fanatic, and he loves to know how things work, so I figured this would be perfect for him. When I booked it they told me it was 3 hours long, so I figured dd and I had until 10:30 or so to ourselves. I got her up and asked her what she wanted to do, I was kinda thinking shopping at the Marketplace, then the guys could meet us there after. Nope, she wanted to see Mickeys Philharmagic, and that was it. So, off to the MK we went. We just missed the MK bus, so we sat to wait. We didnt have to wait long, just a couple of minutes later another bus came and we were at the MK in time for the little good morning show. After we got through the gates, we spotted Cruella. I had been dying to see her, but dh wasnt with us, so I couldnt get a pic of me with her, just her and dd. Oh well. She was so cool! DD also met Wendy, Alice and the Mad Hatter. He was a riot. She wanted to do Buzz again, so went over there first and walked right on. We walked through Fantasyland to see Mickey again. The guy said if we hurried we could get in, they were about to shut the doors. I guess they were, I had to stick my hand in and pull the door open LOL. We plopped in our seats just as the show was starting. It was even better the second time around, WOW! I tried to buy a pin, but they said they sold out of them immediately every time they got them in. We were about to go on Peter Pan, when I realized the music I was hearing, was coming from my fanny pack. My phone plays the Mickey Mouse March. It was dh and they were done already with their tour, it was only 9:45. Alrighty, well meet you at Big Thunder and check out the line, and maybe get a fast pass. The line says 10 minutes, so we get in line instead of getting a pass. 10 minutes was a bit of an exaggeration, we walked right on. This was dds first ride, and I think she was a little nervous. She doesnt like dark, so I told her we were going up a dark hill first, then she saw the waterfall. I could tell she was a little unsure as we were going down the hill, as we were in the very first car, so she couldnt tell where the it was going. She was yelling on the hills and when it was over, she kinda had a weird look. She wouldnt answer when ds and I asked her if she liked it. I finally just asked do you want to ride again. YES was the answer I got, so we went back and walked on again. I think dd has a new favorite ride. She wanted to go a 3rd time but we grabbed a fast pass so we could do some other stuff first. Then we headed to Pirates, another first for her. She didnt love it, but she did good. Later in the trip she wanted to ride it again, so I guess she liked it well enough. We crossed over to Tomorrowland, since ds had been dying to drive those darn cars in the speedway. The wait said 20 minutes already, but we waited anyway, he really wanted to ride. Turned out we only waited about 14 minutes or so, and he loves it, so it was worth it. We now went all the way back for another ride on Big Thunder, each time she loved it more than the last. She would get so excited when we went up the hills that she stomp her feet on the floor giddily. We were now going to take the train back to the front and head out for today, since we were here so long yesterday. On the way to the train the boys saw the line for Splash was, once again, only 5 minutes. So off they went, and we hopped the train without them. While we waited for them to finished, dd had a pic with Robin Hood, and I took pictures of about half of the Mickey statues. The guys finished up and we took the monorail over to the Contemporary for lunch, the food n fun center is great, and our car was there because of the tour, then we drove back to the hotel to swim. The kids had been dying to get in the pool, and it was finally warm enough to get wet. They swam for an hour or so, and then we had to grab a boat the MGM, since we had a Fantasmic dinner ressie for Hollywood and Vine. We took the boat from the Dolphin, to make it a shorter ride. We didnt have too much time before our dinner, and we were going to grab fastpasses for RNR. When we got there, the line said only 5 minutes. Cool, but there would not be enough time for the boys to go, then come back and ds and I go, so I asked about kidswap. They said we could all go through the line and dd could go through the chicken exit and wait in the gift shop, or I could take her there and come back and get right on when they got off. DD said it was cool to go to the giftshop by herself. Makes me a little nervous, but she had her eye on something she wanted to buy and it seemed ok. She ended up coming back through the door, a little unsure of where she was supposed to go,and the great CM counting people, took a minute and showed her the way, he was very nice. As we were two rides away, all the lights came on. Hmmmm. CMs start talking on walkie talkies and coming out of the wood work. The counting guy goes to find out whats up. Apparently a girl (she looked about 10-12 to me) freaked out as they were about to launch, and they stopped the ride. The guy said they have only about a 5 second window to make the judgement call of stopping the ride or not. He said if he sees tears, he makes the call. It took another several minutes to get everything back online. The girls waiting directly in front of us were mildly freaked by this, I think they thought something broke. I must say, I was a bit relieved myself to find out it was not mechanical. Of course, this has to happen when dd was waiting in the gift shop. We finally got on, and I yelled to ds to smile this time on launch for the camera! We got the good music track this time, Love in and Elevator and Walk this Way, the good track can make the ride that much better! When we were done dd was waiting for us with her Rock n Roll Minnie doll that she wanted, she could have cared less how long we were gone. The pic was great, so dh went to pay for it, and I ran to Hollywood and Vine as it was about 3 minutes from our PS now. We waited about 15 minutes for our table, while they seated two parties of 8 and a party of 15, wow, cant imagine keeping track of that many people. When we were done we didnt have a lot of time, so we hit a couple of gift shops and went and took our seats. Another show I absolutely love, I can watch this over and over and it thrills me every time! Its nice in the off season too, thats its done by 7:30, so we can get to bed at a decent hour. Another great day in the World.
