Disney in Branson, MO?

Has anyone heard about a disney park being built in the next 2 yrs in Branson, MO?

well, I talked to my uncle who met a CM on the ferry boat to OKW three weeks ago and he told him that the Branson MO Disney project is a definite. It's going to be built right after they finish expansion into Texas, add DVC to Pop Century, and thaw out Walt.

The last thing that I heard was that a couple of people showed up at a Branson meeting claiming to be from Disney. They submitted some paper work about a possible new park. Branson got all excited. Disney found out about it and investigated the two people. They paper work was faked and Disney was seeking legal action against to two.

You'll find a similar rumor about Disney in Texas - just do a search here. Mostly it seems to be wishful thinking.

There was a recent article in the St. Louis Post dispatch about someone (Disney?) putting "Right of first refusal" on several properties in the Joplin Mo area. This is near Branson. The article made it sound like it was being done very undercover, similar to the way that Walt did the land acquisitions in Florida. They tracked down the office of one of the businessmen who were involved in some of the preliminary zoning and his office was located in Celebration Florida. This person's cell phone was also from the Lake Buena Vista Area. There was also some land core drilling being done. It was an interesting article.. but it really did not say anything.

Branson is one of the places that's been discussed for Destination Disney, so this rumor isn't as far off as some of the replies may have you believe. Still, I think current plans are looking west coast first.

I believe there was a report that the people were in fact posing as Disney employees, and Disney wasn't too happy. I'm sure if you drill a page or two down in this forum you'll find more details.
