Disney in April

I know April is one of the busier months. I guess I'm not grasping how busy it will be. I've always gone in December, and there have still been 20-30 mintue lines.

Even if I start early in the day, will the lines be long? I understand that the lines for the popular rides get to be 1hr+. I'll definate be using the Fastpass strategies.

Isn't attendance off this year? Has that had a noticable effect on lines and wait times? With the continuing poor economy, it seems fewer and fewer people can afford Disney.

I've got my golf times and my PS for all my dinners, I'm just trying to get an idea of the parks. If the lines are ridiculous, it seems like a good idea to go to a park in the morning, eat lunch, go back to the resort to swim and nap (we'll be at the poly  ). Then go to dinner and hit the parks in the evening.

Any thought from you veterans?

Welcome fellow Marylander! A coworker was there last week and said that the parks were not crowded, but not deserted. We are going with our high school band in the beginning of April, and I am told that the crowds tend to relate to schools spring breaks, and Easter breaks. Easter is the 20th this year. so good luck.

good choice for late april! dh and I were there last year same time and the weather was great and the crowds were als good. There were people but not too many the longest we waited I think was for space mountin about 45min. We were there for 2 weeks and had plenty of time to see everyting, all the paraids all the rides we wnated to do and even hade time to do universal studios sea world and took a few days off in between for shopping and lounging at the water parks. I'm sure you will have a great time!

The 2 weeks right around Easter will be the busiest with the week right after being even busier than the week before.

To give you an example, last year they closed the MK (or TTC) parking lot because it was at capacity. Water parks were closed by 10 a.m. because they were at capacity.

On the plus side, the weather is awesome. April is on record as having the least amount of rain.

Of course, if you aren't there during those 2 "super-peak" weeks as we call them, it won't be as bad, but it will still be pretty busy.

If you are there to do a commando style trip you will need to do what you said - hit the parks early, take a swim break & then head back to parks later in the day. If you have time to relax & enjoy then do a park every other day.

I'm sure you'll have fun no matter when you go or how crowded the parks are. :p

Well, lucily I'm going 2 weeks before Easter(April 6-11), so I hope it'll be a little lighter. I'll have a 3yr old and my wife is expecting, so we don't have to worry about the high-impact rides.

I'll try to steer clear of the commando-style. Something tells me that between my daughter being 2-3 and my wife having to use the bathroom all the time, lines will be the least of my problems :p

Hee hee, MadHat, I finally saw grass for the first time in a couple weeks. I'm itching to get down to some nice warm weather and green, green grass.

Gaiusrex-My DD just moved to Hampstead last summer and loves it. A totally beautiful area! She very upset about not being able to go with us to WDW in early April. She is a teacher and won't "hook" school. If there is anything that you would like me to "check on" for you while we are there, let me know.

We have gone to Disney the last week of April for the past 3 years. It has been great. Very moderate lines, and the weather is to die for. Last year I felt it was alitle more crowded at the Magic Kingdom due to the fact early entry was gone. I made my PS for the eariest possible so we could be well in the park when it opened. You will love the April weather also, not too hot and not as humid either. Have a GREAT time! This year we are trying the 1st week in May.
