Disney, If You Change -----, We're Through!

Nope not a thing, I've been going for over 30 years and have seen many things come and go including adding resorts, raising prices, changing level of service, etc. Not a thing they could do short of shutting the place down would make me stop going.

Nope.

I would be disappointed if an attraction goes away I didn't experience, but other than that .. I can't think of one.

But to me Disney is all about the ambience. As long as that remains, and the "magical" nature of the place, it doesn't matter what attractions they take away and replace them with.

I mean this place is totally different from the place I went to in the 70s and 80s. I experienced things then and I get to experience NEW things now.

I mean, the second (or third) ride through of the Back Lot Studio tour (especially after they shortened it) .. was boring and I only went on so the people I were with could experience it for the first time. I wasn't sad to see that go. Same with the Great Movie Ride. I didn't take my son on it these last two trips (didn't find the time and because it was Tier 1 .. way too long of a wait with a pre-schooler to be worth it). I won't miss that either.

I agree with some other posters .. if they changed things like charging resort fees, charging for parking for said resorts, or implemented a paid Fast Pass system (Pay $X and get to Fast Pass every ride) .. I'd probably consider vacationing elsewhere as they starts to erode the "magic".

Consider this my "dislike" click. Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean that others don't. Even though I don't care for UoE at Epcot, I know others like it. That's enough to make me say to update the ride and keep it going instead of replacing it.

Not to mention, as others have said, folks that are older, younger, have health issues, etc., can't go on some of the rides at WDW. Having joined that club in the last few years, and my thrill ride days are now over, I look fore more sedate rides that don't bounce me around everywhere.

I agree that WDW doesn't need to be considered a museum. But, when I go to WDW, its like this 46 year old gets to recapture some of his childhood by going on rides that I first went on when I was a very little boy. It wouldn't be the same with out PoC, HoP, People Move, Liberty Belle, Country Bears, and many others.

IMHO, Disney needs to keep their older rides and just spruce them up (if necessary) when they get older. AND, they can open up more rides in addition to what they have. Not only does this cause people to spend extra days, and extra $$$, but it will also spread out the crowds much better.

I would be VERY sad if they removed these original Walt Disney attractions. If they replace It's a Small World, that would be heartbreaking and a breaking point for me. I realize these rides aren't High speed rollercoaster rides, but there is something to these original attractions. I went on them with my mom. My kids went on them with me and if I am lucky enough to have grandchildren in the future, I will ride them with my grandchildren.

Disney is not just about thrill rides, it's about families and making memories - and continuing those memories with future generations. Just my two-cents

Hi dreiwhit and TinkHappy,
I am not saying they should replace them with "thrill rides". I am just stating a fact that these are some of the less popular attractions as indicated by low wait times. I would be happy if they modified them, changed them or improved them. Just so Disney continues to evolve, improve. Not preserve an attraction that was once a great advancement in technology (i.e. Tiki Audioanamatronics) even though it is no longer impressive. I don't mean to upset you. I know there is a small population of people that don't want to see anything old go away. But, it is a small percentage of the park goers. Just my 2c.

it does need to change and evolve, but leave classics like Haunted Mansion, Small World and Space Mountain alone. They would really have to do something ridiculous, like putting Frozen in Norway, to make...... wait a minute

If they ever implement a resort fee or make guests pay for parking, I'm done. And we don't ever rent a car, it's the principle of it.

I agree with some other posters .. if they changed things like charging resort fees, charging for parking for said resorts, or implemented a paid Fast Pass system (Pay $X and get to Fast Pass every ride) .. I'd probably consider vacationing elsewhere as they starts to erode the "magic".

I may be disappointed if some attractions were taken away, but that wouldn't cause me to stop wanting to vacation there. I worry more about being priced out of having a quality experience.

I think that Disney has to maintain a certain volume of guests to make staying open feasible so I tell myself that this can't happen.

But when I see people happily willing to pay exorbitant prices to attend dessert parties, for example, it worries me. Fireworks have always been included the price of tickets, but if folks are ready, willing and able to spend more on seeing them than they pay for dinner, that doesn't bode well for the future IMO.

Yeah, I agree with those who embrace the change, though the one that is closest for me would be The Haunted Mansion, but I think that's reasonably safe for quite a long while. Honestly, I don't even mind if they change and add things to it, as long as it remains The Haunted Mansion.

I would be very unhappy if they changed the FastPass system to something like what Universal has - pay more and wait less. I really like that everyone has a fair chance. Resort guests get a slight advantage with an earlier booking window. It seems very reasonable and fair to me and doesn't devalue a standard entry ticket.

I'd love if they went to an express pass like what you can buy at Universal. I just don't think they have the capacity for the number of visitors.

Taking away park hoppers might be a deal breaker for me...although I've pondered before if I actually would be ok with it, as I could buy 2 tickets and have a morning ticket with FPs and then an Epcot ticket for the evening with FPs.

While I don't love every change WDW has ever made (Stitch! - loved the Alien attraction), I'm generally pretty cool with changes.

There are no attraction changes that would ruin it for me, although I have my favorites that I am a bit possessive of (here's looking at you, Tower of Terror, without Marvel).

I would be more challenged by resort fees, parkin fees at resorts, fees for busses, charges for FP.

If they stopped making people wear clothes I'd probably stop going...maybe :confused3:rotfl2:

Seriously though, there's nothing sacred to me. There's things I don't want them to change, but I wouldn't stop going if they did.

The only attraction I would care about would be Splash Mountain but i would just be made for a minute and get over it.

Husband asked if we should reschedule our trip because Splash will be down when we visit. Silly man ...

I'd be on the edge if they started charging for FP+ unless APs got them included in their passes.

Cinderella's Castle, Small World, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion...they mess with any of those, and I'll finally just grow up and quit visiting.

Nothing would keep me away for good, but if they got rid of all the fireworks, it would come close. Imagine not being able to end your day at MK with Wishes or HEA?

Not change, but if Disney just flat out removed The World Showcase out of Epcot, I'd never go back.

(But I know WS is just way too popular for Disney to ever consider that)

I would probably go to Epcot more if the world showcase WAS removed ! I was just at WDW for 8 days/7 nights and the only time I stepped foot in the world showcase was to eat in Mexico and that was the cantina. Honestly, Disney's version of what they think they should portray countries like is just that, a portrayal. Having a place for adults to get drunk does not need to be part of Disney either. I really have a hard time of making the Disney connection between the world showcase and the rest of the parks/themes. It is great you like it, but there are a LOT who have an actual dislike of it. I was truly disgusted to see adults walking through Epcot towards the showcase with T-shirts portraying in a Disney sense of how drunk they were going to get that night. Seriously......I am sure Walk would be frowning as well.

If they flat out closed Magic Kingdom or Epcot then I would stop going... but no single ride is enough for me to never go again. Are there attractions I would be SAD if they closed? Heck ya. Haunted Mansion, TTA, and a few others I would have a cry over and would pout about... but I would still go.

This:

And this:
"Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world."

There are several things I'd be pretty upset to lose, but nothing that would be a total deal-breaker.

The removal of certain iconic things would shock me, and I'd miss them, but I wouldn't dramatically quit going. If it stopped "feeling like Disney" I might go less often - but I love amusement parks in general, so I can't imagine totally dropping it.
.

I agree with the "It's not a museum" comment. It should evolve, faster. Get rid of the least attended attractions and replace with new.

Get rid of Tiki Room, Country Bear, Tom Sawyer, Liberty Boat, People Mover, Indi Speedway, Swiss Family Tree House...and any other attractions that are not popular.

I'm cool with this list except people mover. I don't know why I like that silly ride. And its up and out of the way for the most part so we can keep that.
