Folks are welcome to use the restaurants and shops at Disney resorts, but most other facilities are limited to folks staying at the resorts themselves.

It depends what you mean by "facilities". You can eat at the restarants, shop in the shops and rent watercraft at the resorts that have marinas. The only facilities that you cannot use are the swimming pools, hot tubs and the beaches.

No restaurant at AKL overlooks animals. They have three restaurants, the Jiko, the Boma and the food court type Mara near the pool. The only way to see the animals would be to go out onto Arusha Rock viewing area. This is the public area for viewing animals located at the far side of the lobby. Huge beautiful glass window with doors leading outside -- you won't miss it!

If you are looking for a nice sit down place to relax and enjoy a great meal and good wine then give Jiko a try. It is a great place. If you are looking for more of a family type meal then go with the buffet at Boma.
