Disney hotel in Hawaii

heard about it some time ago, but not anything since? does anyone know if it is still being built? I heard it was supposed to open in 2011. We will be married 15 years in 2012 and would love to go to Hawaii, so why not go Disney style...

I think it's going to be part of the Disney Vacation Club. Look on the DVC boards, they might have more details about it.

I was just at the Marriott in Ko Olina, where they plan to build the Disney resort. The local Ko Olina Magazine had an article about the new resort and indicated the plans for a mix-use resort with a combo of DVC and regular hotel rooms. I suppose that could mean just DVC since pretty much all DVC is available for rent through central reservations. The resort area is pretty nice with 4 lagoons. I think the Disney resort will be somewhere between Lagoon #1 and #2. All lagoons are connected by a walkway. It's a great resort area, but it's about 20 miles from Honolulu. They're doing alot of developing in the area and the nearby town of Kapolei. Unfortunately, the area used to be sort of an industrial part of the island, so although the planned community of Ko Olina is gorgeous, it's hard to miss the landfill on the hills, chemical plant or oil refinery looking complex surrounding the area. It will certainly be a nice option for DVC owners.

I was just in KoOlina also and it is beautiful and nice place other then being in the City.

It will be built next to the J W Marriott Ihalani Resort and Spa. They haven't started building it yet.

We stayed at the Marriott KoOlina Beach Club. It was so nice and still finishing another portion. We walked down to where it will be. By the way there was a shark in Lagoon 1 and they cleared the water and divers were trying to get it out of the lagoon
