Disney Hopper Plus Passes with unused days on them

Last year when we showed up with tickets for Magic Kingdom only (very old..but not the letter tickets..a regular ticket), we were told we could only use them for that park, as a one day only ticket or upgrade and they would give us a paltry amount toward a hopper.

If they build a new theme park..............

Actually, Disney is only about 30% complete compared to what they are planning. They have plans for 6 more theme parks. Hard to believe, isn't it? The next one has a proposed name of something about steel and is going to be the largest roller coaster park in the country.

The problem I see with your situation was the ticket was purchased when only the MK was open. There weren't any park hopping tickets back then since there was only one park. The CM was correct in that you had what amounted to a one day one park ticket as that's all there was back then. But there was a way around it.

If you had been armed with the knowledge of what to do in that situation, you would have had no problem. You should have simply asked to have that old ticket converted to a magnetic strip one. Once that was done, your ticket would be good in any of the four parks. It would still be a one day one park ticket but you could use it at any park.

I was one of the fortunate ones who bought many things on the e-bay that had days left on them and had no problem when we went. The way I figured it, if when I got there they were not any good that when I can back I would go on the e-by site and let them know and that you can put something on the buyers/seller feedback and believe me it would not have been positive and would have made someone buying from that person have second thoughts.

Small compensation for a monetary loss. Also, the seller has a right to rebuttal and if they are dishonest in the sale you can bet they will be dishonest in the rebuttal and, they can block feedback from being shown.

Re: the Florida law on the re-selling of tickets. This is a Florida state law. If you re-sell the tickets outside the state of Florida, you are out of the jurisdiction of that state and cannont be prosecuted by Florida. However, YOUR state may have a law against re-selling the tickets.

Doea ANYONE know where I can sell these tickets except ebay?
You could try coworkers, neighbors, put up a sign in the grocery store or a classified ad in your paper.
I think what you were trying to be told in the nicest possible manner is that we cannot or will not help do something that is totally against the rules.

Actually, that is not how everyone feels. I was just asing for input from those who maybe had not responded.

I realize not everyone feels that way and that is why I did not state that.
But, I do feel secure that not many are going to help you on the DIS, it really is not in the spirit of these boards to break rules.
But, I do wish you luck in selling them.

I agree with Gail. People have posted information regarding your tickets and tried to help you. It is up to you what to do at this point. Good luck on selling the tickets. :)

You can't sell them on this board, I wouldn't expect you got any PM from people looking to buy. People on these boards go to Disney enough to use full tickets AND have no way of knowing how many days are left. Your best bet is either E-Bay or to someone you know.

Lewis. I have in no way tried to sell them on this board. I have not stated what kind of tickets they are or what I want for them.

Ethics and legalities aside, I'm not sure what ideas you are expecting. There is no "outlet" to sell your tickets other than Ebay that I know of.

Because there seems to be some legal questions as to whether you can sell them or not, Ebay or a private sale seem to be your only options.

Have you ever thought about donating them to some sort of charity? I don't know if that's even possible, but it's what I'd do if I had tickets I wasn't ever going to use again. That's not going to happen though. As long as there's a WDW, we'll be going back.

Actually, if they were almost completely used I would have no problem donating them to a charity, but I have too much money tied up in them to do that.

Unfortunately, you don't have many options. If you don't want to donate, don't want to sell on Ebay and don't have family or friends to sell to you may just have to eat the loss. Most people aren't interested in partially used tickets purchased from strangers. It's a huge risk to the buyer. People are much better off buying their tickets from an authorized outlet or WDW themselves.

I have in no way tried to sell them on this board. I have not stated what kind of tickets they are or what I want for them.

No, you haven't. But, since you've gotten a lot of responses and since there really aren't any options that haven't been mentioned, it might give some people the idea that you're continuing to bump the thread in the hopes that someone will see your post and offer to purchase them. Just so you'll know, that is most definitely against the rules of this site. And, just in case that's what's happening here, I've posted my last response. Good luck.

Take the donation as a tax write off.

You were not overtly trying to sell them BUT you continued to ask what to do after people suggested E-Bay, family and friends. I wasn't sure if you were hoping for a PM from some member looking to buy your tickets but wanted to let you know that you are unlikely to get many bites.:D

I suppose you could contact Disney and see if they'll do anything for you. Depending on how sick you kid was and where you live (so far away you won't be getting back any time soon) you MIGHT get lucky. A think a letter might be better than a phone call.

EVeryone says they would not buy off ebay but when I look at the hoppers being sold on Ebay they all appear to be getting bids and pretty high prices too.
