My fiance and I are planning a honeymoon in May. Our current plan is to stay at the Grand Floridian and get the garden view with king bed if possible. My favorite park is the Magic Kingdom, so I wanted to be close to this park. I see that there is going to be some construction. Would this still be a good idea for our honeymoon or does anyone have another suggestion? We want to stay in the same price range as the Grand Floridian Garden view. Thank you for your help.

:welcome: Welcome to the DIS Boards! And congrats on your upcoming wedding.

The construction is the building of the new Disney Vacation Club section of the Grand Floridian. The construction site is located between the wedding pavilion and the GF main pool. Most of the buildings for guest rooms are away from this area and should not pose a problem.

The monorail is reported to have some closed hours during the day. This will vary with their construction schedule. We were there last Fri, Sat and Sun and the monorail was never closed. But if it is, there is still boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom and the usual buses to everywhere else.

Well, the good news is that you should have no problem finding something in your price range, as the Grand Floridian has some of the most expensive rooms on property. Some other lovely resorts to consider are the Polynesian (right next door to the GF) and the Contemporary (also on the monorail line). To get completely away from the construction, consider the Epcot resort area which include the Yacht and Beach Clubs and the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk Inn even has some Garden Suites designed for honeymooners. They are 2 stories and have their own private entrances with a white picket fence! They are adorable!! Plus you a quick walk or boat ride from both Epcot and Hollywood Studios and just a bus ride from the MK and AK. The Crescent Lake area is just totally romantic at night time too. :lovestruc
Something new to consider as you make your plans.

You can ask more specific questions about resorts in the Resorts section of the boards, as well as discuss al things newlywed related with others planning their special events in the Disney Weddings and Honeymoons section!

Hope that helps. And have fun planning! :bride::groom:

:welcome: to the boards! I'm going to move this over to the resorts forum so that you can get more information.

Congrats on your wedding!

Thank you for moving it! I didn't realize I posted in the wrong section.

I would be willing to consider another resort, but I just love the Magic Kingdom and don't want to be too far away. My fiance has never been before, but he said he doesn't mind where we stay. I looked into the Contemporary, but I am afraid it may not have the same romantic or "Disney" feel to it. I've looked at the Beach club as well, but I thought they would be far from Magic Kingdom. Thank you for the reply.

What about a Magic Kingdom view at BLT? If you stay at BLT or CR you can walk to the MK, that's so nice late at night.

As much as we love the Epcot area if you love the MK area this is such a special trip I would def stay where you really want, stay close to the MK don't settle for anything else.

If you really want the monorail access maybe the Poly?

And don't forget about Wilderness Lodge. I know it's not on the monorail and certainly opposite from the GF but would your fiancee like it? Is staying club level something you would want, nightly drinks? The WL does have a more secluded feel to it. I bet you could stay in a Honeymoon suite or Deluxe room at WL for around the same price as Garden view at GF.

Thank you that AJA. That is something to think about. I haven't looked too much into the Wilderness Resort, but I did for Bay Lake Towers. I just wasn't sure if it was magical or not. Have you stayed there before?

For the same price I would get a concierge room at the Poly. Much better than the GF IMHO.
