Hello, I am new to these boards and hoping to find some advice. My fiance and I are getting married in July and would like to honeymoon in Disney. Does Disney offer anything special for honeymooners? I have only been to Disney twice and my fiance has only been once so we aren't that familiar with this kind of stuff. We are looking to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter but was wondering if you could recommend anything special for couples on their honeymoon or anything particularly romantic that we could do there. Thanks!

Hi candlelite80 :welcome: to the DIS!!!

One thing to be sure to do is let the folks at reservations know that it is your honeymoon (call them back if you have to!), and let them know again when you check in!

When you make any Advanced Dining Reservations (ADR's) you should mention it's your honeymoon and again remind the CM when you check in for your reservation.

When you get to the resort, ask about buying the bride and groom ears (most resort gift shops have them). If you wear them you will get a lot of attention and congratulations! You can also get special pins (for free!) at Guest Services at any park.

The above things are simple and easy to do...they don't cost much and you never know when you'll get some pixie dust!

There are other things you can do like booking an Illuminations or Wishes cruise, doing some of the special tours (like the Segway Tour or Keys to the Kingdom), or even go parasailing!!

Take a look around these boards (in particular the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board) for other ideas!

I assume your going to Disney right after the wedding in July OMG it is going to be HOT HOT HOT and CROWDED until my wedding we had only been in the summer months NEVER again in the summer months you have to wait anywhere from 50 min to 2hrs, when we went the third week of Jan the longest line we had was 30min and the weather was very nice. If you do go in July just make sure you have some water with you because it will be very hot anywhere from 92-100 degrees, hope you have a great Disneymoon. As far as Disney Resorts

Disney's Polynesian Resort

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

are the two I would pick from, I had a very bad experience with port orleans.

I am new to the posting world as well. In response to your questions about Honeymooning in Disney go you. I am also planning to honeymoon there but am a veteran disney girl. Port Orleans is a great choice. For a moderate resort the atmosphere is deluxe and very romantic, plus it is far less then Grand Floridan. One recommendation however, Boatwrights the dining room is located at Riverside, but there is a food court at French Quarter. Yes it is hot in the summer, but its not bad just hydrate! One big thing you should do because of the crowd issue is to get the buttons and hats to proclaim loudly that you are on your honeymoon, I have heard that this helps with lines ;-). Also, go through the attractions and shows and list what you feel is a must do for you and your husband to be. By deciding on your attractions before you go you know what to visit first when lines are short. Ask yourself if parades are important to you because during the summer while parades are going on the lines are very short. Do not try to do everything, remember this is supposed to be relaxing. A great thing to do at the resort is to take a carriage ride at night, very romantic. Also, consider dining at California Grill, Artist Point, Jikos, or if your wallet allows Victoria and Alberts. I hope this helps, have fun!

This is my experience

POFQ might be CHEAPER but.... I arrived at my Disney Port Orleans French Quarter resort on Dec 31st to check in I had reservation for a non-smoking King size room, so after getting checked in I go to the room to find two double beds so I figured they made a mistake so I went to the lobby to get switched and they tell me they are sorry but that is all they have I had my reservations since March 5th, 2007 hello this is my wedding week I don't need anymore stress. So then we move all of the luggage to Riverside get to that room the manager told me the rooms would be the EXACT same THEY AREN'T it smelled like smoke (I am allergic to) and it looked very outdated and the bed was hard as a rock so I then went back to French Quarter bags moved a second time, back to the first room, was told I could come down to the office the next day and change to a king size room! No apologize or anything and did I mention they did the same thing to the guy beside me checking in! We went out for New Years Eve and the next morning I go to switch rooms and I am told I will need to sit in the lobby for five hours because I have to get out of the room to switch to the next room I would think they would have had the king size room ready because this is what the MANAGER told me the night before, NOPE they didn't finally we move to king room three hours later (move bags again) we go to leave to enjoy the parks and I check the door to make sure it is locked and it doesn't LOCK!!! Had to call maintenance and sit with the door until it was fixed another three hours of my day gone all they do is give me a fast pass and take one night off as a discount now remind you I am getting married the same week, and they don't say sorry either, I recommend pop century they had a nice resort cheaper and friendly people! I will not go back to Port Orleans again.

As far as the Grand being expensive it is so if you don't want to spend the money then, I would say Disney's Polynesian Resort, and if you want value then go to pop century it is nice for a value resort. If you do stay at a Disney Resort you will get Extra Magical Hours.

I love the summer time, I love hot weather nothing against it, but it really depends on what you plan to do if you plan on spending the whole day at the park then plan on being sweaty, sticky, maybe wet b/c FL does have rain showers about everyday oh and did I mention you will be packed onto buses or monorail with all of the other hot and tired people if you do leave at the end of the night when they close, but I have been in winter, spring and summer and I prefer winter I was also told the first week in Dec is good but I haven't been yet. You will have fun no matter what :woohoo:

I was also there on our Disneymoon with Mickey Ears, Shirts with Disney Bride and Groom and Buttons you can get from Guest Relations or the resort etc... except for the people who said congratulations nobody cared we had to wait in line just like everyone else, except on Mt. Everest the WDW employee gave us a free fast pass, we did character dining and got free deserts b/c it was our Disneymoon.

The Disney parades are wonderful but you have to get there early for a good seat, I would recommend two days at MK if at all possible (rides one day, shops and parades the next) whatever you do just have a good time and enjoy don't try to rush. :cool1:

I googled best days to visit disney parks and found this and this is what I went by to plan which days to visit which parks.

First two weeks of December

THE NEXT BEST TIME TO VISIT

Disney-MGM Studios: Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday
Animal Kingdom: Monday, Tuesday & Friday

Congratulations!:yay:
We are also honeymooning at Disney in August and just can't wait! From what I understand, as pp have noted the thing to do is tell reservations that you guys will be on your honeymoon.

I have never stayed at POFQ, but it does look nice. We also loved having dinner at Narcoosies (spelling?) last year and find it really romantic. We'll be there the last night of the honeymoon.

Are you doing the dining plan?
