Hello everybody
I am Janine and I live in England.
Firstly what a fantastic site. I have been browsing for 12 months or so now whilst deciding on a Disney wedding. My DH2B and I have finally decided we will go for it.
We have decided on an intimate package at the Pavillion and a 7 night stay at Disney's Grand Floridian.
I spoke to Disney a couple of days ago who told me it would be $4300 for this. They came back to me today to say I could have the date I wanted,on my birthday 28 February 2006, but the price would now be $3200 as they have decided not to include the officiant, hotel accommodation or the inclusive park tickets.
I would imagine that accommodation may be somewhat higher to book separately. I have tried to check it but can't get a price at the moment as I think their site is a little slow.
They did say that they would include a violinist for the ceremony and the reception instead now.
Does anybody have any other info they can share with me on this?
I was so wanting to do this but am already getting bad vibes.
I dont feel it is a good starting point.
Does anybody know the up to date price of weddings at other Disney locations rather than the pavillion that may be cheaper but just as nice.
hope you can help,
Janine

It might actually be cheaper to book your accomodations and then do an intimate add on. I didn't know they weren't providing the officiant anymore that's interesting news.

You could check with special events at the Swan/Dolphin, they do great weddings also, cheaper than disney intimate weddings although just as nice, if not nicer. I have the phone number here somewhere..pm me if you see this post so I don't lose it and I will get it to you if you are interested.

I know that this is sad news. However look on the bright side sweetie :) Most times you can find disney hotel cheaper just takes a little leg work and the tickets you can get cheaper if you look around on the disboards they can give you help and clues. THe reception is a good thing for me becasue that was my biggest fear trying to find a place to eat for all and time of it all and such. So for *ME* I think it is a good change :)

Hang in there you never know it might be a step in the right direction :)

Take care,
Kim

If the rooms and tickets are no longer in the package then isn't it just an add on?

With a little research you'll probley find that you can get the rooms and tickets cheaper anyway. Check out ticketmania.com and if you subscribe to mousesavers.com newsletter they run newsletter subscriber only specials that will save you even more off the already low prices at ticketmania.
Or you may find a good package deal through Disney like the one now that gives you free meals.
Some people buy annual passes and Disney offers special discount codes for different resorts at different times. Maybe a deluxe for the cost of a moderate or a moderate for the cost of a value????? There is somewhere on these boards that you can keep up with the codes offered. And I don't think you have to have the annual pass at the time you book, just before check in, but I could be wrong on that.

Don't stress you may find yourself saving some money.

Just let you know we are the in the same boat. I got a phone call from Disney wedding team saying that

1. intimate package is $2350 for year 2005, but because my wedding will be in Feb 2006. I will end up pay $2350 + 10% increase. :<

2. The package won't include hotel, officiant and park tickets.
That means i have to find an officiant (hopefully from outside, cheaper than the officiant Disney uses)

oh well...

I was quoted $3200 but that was because I said I was thinking of the wedding pavillion.
For $2350 what choice of location do you have?
I have read that the outside places are equally as nice, if not nicer, and so I may decide on somewhere else, and use the money I save to add extras.
I tried talking to the reservations department today to try and get an idea of costs for a week at the GF, but they told me to speak to my wedding co-ordinator, that I dont yet have as I havent actually booked my date, I have just asked to see if the 28 February was available, which it was. I am wondering if booking wedding accommodation might be a little cheaper than booking say from the disney web site? does anyone know?

Janine - have you looked at the prices through a UK travel agent? We've booked through Virgin so our package is aimed at UK brides and is slightly different to the Disney direct one. Our package doesn't include accomodation or tix but does include ceremony/ cake/ violinist/ flowers/ officiant/12 photos... hmm and a few other things.

It cost £1229 for Sunset Pointe (Nov this year). We are staying at the AKL for £55 a night each (through Virgin) and we got our tix online (£173 for 21 day disney passes- 14 day ones were £153)

Hang on let me add that up - ceremony + 7 nights + tix = £2305 ($4000)

Obviously the GF will cost you a bit more - but don't be disheartended shop around and check out Virgin or Thomas Cook to see what their intimate package prices and options are for 2006.

Good luck

RJ
