Disney has no record of our contract

Even points in holding might have more value and options than the banked points expiring depending on specifics.

I had that thought but then became under the impression that this new contract is the same UY so the holding points would also just expire at the same time. And it would have to be a contract under the same UY as the expiration in order to have the points reallocated.

Even if it's the same UY and the points are not banked it does give one possibility though it's a long shot. Swapping the points, ending up with holding account points, then using the one time exception and banking them.

It's different uy. That's why I'd like to swap. If we can swap the "old contract" points in the reservation, for the " new contract" points that are expiring soon, it will give us plenty of time to use the "old contract" points that are currently in reservation. We're leaning towards gambling and trying to swap or begging for mercy from Disney for one time exception, and possibly some last minute trip with whatever we can possibly piece together. It's only 100 points, so not the end of the world, but I still hate to see them completely wasted.
Btw, thanks for everyone's help during this process. It definitely got scary for me for a couple days and it was nice having this board!

Here's the game plan I'd use given that situation. I'm assuming the new one is a Dec UY and that the reservation you'd like to swap is quite a bit more points than the 100. Here's how I'd approach it in order.

  • I'd first see what was online the I could book that corresponded with my planned trip as soon as I could see and use the points online. I'd book anything applicable.
  • Assuming that didn't use more of them, I'd look for anything otherwise available that I could book and offer for rent at a reduced rate.
  • I'd then call MS and see if they could show some mercy and figure a way to extend the points by banking the banked short notice points or swapping out and banking the points freed up even if they ended up being holding account points. I might do this first if MS was open when I had access to the points.
  • Don't forget to wait list if MS doesn't make magic happen for you.
  • Use any points in holding if needed in some other way either personally or rent them out.

Check the Orange County Comptroller website to see if your deed was recorded. You can also give the contract number from the ROFR waiver for Disney to look up your account. That's how they were able to look me up when I called.

Completely agree. This will be the best way for them to find it.

*edit -- I see this part has already been resolved. I'll go back to the corner. Carry on. :-)
