Disney Has a New Competitor Charging Half

Yes, and just a $1000 roundtrip for those tickets to Japan.
Last I priced it out (2019?), a week at Disneyland Paris was cheaper than a week at Walt Disney World, including flights from Texas, park tickets, and cash stays in a deluxe resort.

This was a few years ago, and the calculus is very different if staying value/moderate/off-site but, you know, it's not inconceivable that flying internationally is still cheaper that staying at WDW at the high end! =p

It is. They mention Disney to grab attention from Disney fans and if you scroll down, they explain why it won’t come to the US.
Right? I initially thought “this is a little far fetched to call them a competitor” then I read the whole article and the writer (paraphrasing) states “this is far fetched.” So I suppose they will compete locally only. At this point.

I also watched the video in the article. Reminded me slightly of Soarin’.

It doesn't do anyone any good right now if they aren't in Japan. It's still closed to people coming in. Granted, by Fall, it would hopefully be open. Also, the Ghibli park won't be anywhere near complete when it opens. It won't have any rides either, ever I think. It's going to be more experience based. This park won't be coming to the US. It took decades to get it going. I don't think Miyazaki is keen on coming to the US to do this either.

Ummmmmm. No thanks.

Sheeta and Mary Smith are no match for Ariel and Belle and certainly no Cinderella or Anna. They are not even on the same playing field.

The experience is not the same either - they are not planning on many rides, but just atmosphere. If you want Disney Atmosphere, you don't have to pay for Genie+ or ILL, but it's obvious from all the complaints that in the western world, people want rides and experiences, not walking though forests with a few paper mache anime characters in the trees.

That's like saying "WDW is in big trouble because Gator Land added a new nature trail and is offering tickets at half the price". Ummm,. no.
