Disney Guest Experience Standards

My Minnie Mouse and I are looking forward to going back to DL in December for our first visit there since 2018. We have been there easily 25+ times since 1990 and have built wonderful memories as we watched our son grow up each time in the Disney experience. From reading the comments about recent issues, the latest CFO comment about reduced portion size, the move to everything from one app and on and on, the leadership at Disney need to refocus on the "guest experience". This is what separated a visit to DL or DW from other park entertainment options. The loyal Disney fan(atic) is willing to pay a bit more for that unique Disney experience that allows guest to leave behind the noise of the outside world for a day or more, to escape. The guest experience in the past included clean parks, with no visible "blemishes", knowledgeable cast that treated each guest as if they are family, reasonable dining options (and service time), and numerous entertainment choices in the parks. And in the three onsite hotels, good housekeeping, hotel dining options (PPH??) and not nickel and diming for even more money (hotel onsite parking?). I know they have a responsibility to their shareholders, and want to make up for the lost revenue when the parks were closed, but without park guests, they will not continue to be successful and lose that experience that was different from competitors. I'm reading more and more comments here that indicate there is a redline line of tolerance that is approaching where that usual overpriced but "totally worth it" Disney vacation/visit will not be an option. I'll see for myself the guest experience and am hoping the standard hasn't dropped too low. I'll either be pleasantly surprised or sadly disappointed.

Going to Disneyland is just like going anywhere else. You have the power to have a good time or not. All of the issues are true, but that doesn't mean that it's not possible to have fun in a new way. I am paying more to have a good time because I need to do it differently.

This.

Honestly, if I were you (the OP), I’d probably consider something different right now. I may have misread your post, but it seems to me like you’re going in expecting negatives… which means you’re bound to find them. If that were my perspective, I would be fixating on all of that and it would spoil my trip.

Just my $0.02. If you go, I hope you have a great time!

If a company has changed it's product, you can re-evaluate if it still meets your needs and is worth it. Sometimes, you'll discover it is better than before; you may also decide that you liked the old one better but still feel satisfied with the new product. But if you find out that the product no longer seems worth it to you, then you should take your business elsewhere.

Many of us used to have high expectations of Disney but due to changes over the past couple of years, have lowered or changed those expectations. Each person will need to evaluate for themselves if they think it's worth it to visit Disneyland. But if you decide to spend money at Disneyland, I hope you're able to enjoy it and not let your expectations negatively affect your experience.
