The half right is the technology including MDE and the Magic Bands.
The part they screwed up is the implementation and methodology.
The fix is to make the 3 selections less. Yes I said less and hear me out. I think it should get two a day and I think you should be able to book ANY two a day you want and whatever park you want including two different parks. These are your your Disney must do. What this does is let's people to be able to lock in say TSM without having run there a rope drop and hope to get a time before the park closes.
Then the rest is a blend of the old methodology along with the new technology. I think that having that spontaneous flow is a good thing. I am here now and we missed almost half our FP+ and just plain annoyed at some. Last night we went to EPCOT and FP+ was a fail. We had Figment, Spaceship Earth and Test a Track. In that order. Spaceship Earth saved us a big 5 minutes and Figment lost us a minute. We walked in before a group doing standby and by the time the 4 of us scanned twice they beat us on the ride. I commented to the CM at the second check point and his response was "I just work here". Classic! Then we just bailed on Test Track. We had it booked for after dinner and by the time or window rolled around we had moved on. The same happened the night before at Hollywood Studios. We used our TSM and ToT but bailed on out Star Tours. We are booking them to book them, but when the day gets here our flow is something different. I wonder the metrics on missed FP+?
Hence why I say less. Does every ride need or deserve FP, no. FP+ creates problems that shouldn't exist.
And tiering is the biggest joke. The biggest problem I see would be EPCOT for the lack of attractions as let's face it, there are only 2.
So now I should be able to wake up and hop on the Disney bus, knowing my two favorites are locked in, show up at rope drop and start using my Magic Band right away to start reserving FP like it used to be but with the added technology like being able to book with the MDE app.
