I went to the site to see if I could get my niece added for our Project Linus Project because while she was in my sisters account somehow she wasn't added to the activity and they had a notice that it is now closed to enrollment.

Fortunately, everyone else in my family got in.

Given it is a year promotion I would have thought they would have extended the offer.

Denise in MI

Disney had no plans to extended it...the theory is now they will push the summer stuff and re-air all the What Will You Celebrate stuff.

does this mean we can still complete ours if we signed up for it?

I just logged onto my parents account (signed up for Project Linus yesterday) and it looks fine. I had a name under my account with nothing assigned, it now says that the progam is closed and they can not sign up.

Questions About Volunteering
I already completed my sign up at DisneyParks.com and have committed to complete a volunteer activity through this site within the next 60 days. Will I still be able to receive a voucher for a free ticket to a U.S. Disney Theme Park?

Yes. If you already completed the signup process, including entering a specific day and time to volunteer, you will still be able to participate in the program. Once you complete your service, and your service has been verified, you can print a voucher for a free ticket. Please allow 2 weeks after your volunteer service to be verified for your voucher to be available at disneyparks.com. You can check the status of your verification by logging in to Manage My Account.

I searched for an opportunity, and was prompted to contact the organization to arrange a date and time to volunteer and then return to this website and proceed to sign up for this volunteer opportunity where you enter the date and time you agreed to volunteer. I've heard back from the organization and we agreed to a date and time to volunteer but I have not gone back to disneyparks.com to sign up yet — can I still sign-up and earn a ticket?

Sorry, but no. Only volunteers who completed their sign-up at DisneyParks.com by submitting a registration form with the specific date and time of their commitment before the program ended are eligible for the program. We hope you will still choose to volunteer with that organization and we appreciate your interest in the "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." program.

I had to cancel an opportunity I was already signed up for. I still want to volunteer and earn a ticket, but now I can no longer search and signup for a different opportunity. Can I still volunteer, signup and receive a ticket?

Sorry. Since the program has ended, you may no longer sign-up for future volunteer activities to earn a free Disney theme park ticket.

If the organization that I have committed to volunteer with on this website cancels an upcoming event, will I still have an opportunity to serve and still be eligible for the "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." program?

The organization will notify volunteers who are participating in this program and have already committed to a future activity if a change is necessary. The organization can reschedule the activity to take place over the next 30 days. If you are unable to commit to the rescheduled date(s), you will no longer be eligible to participate in the program.

I understand that tickets are no longer available — but is there still a way to find volunteer opportunities in my area?

Yes. Although the program has ended and you can no longer earn a free Disney Theme Park ticket, HandsOn Network has volunteer action centers across the country and it connects volunteers to opportunities year-round. You can search for opportunities to make a difference in your community by visiting: www.handsonnetwork.org.

Wow, they sure went fast.

Glad I got my volunteer oportunity completed as soon as possible. The promotion didn't even last 3 months.

bummer! i thought i had signed my husband up to volunteer with me, but now he's listed with no volunteer opportunity and it's too late. :sad2: i guess i'll be cleaning the beach without him!

That sucks. My DH got us in by teh skin of our teeth...MAYBE.

I had to cancle an opportunty but it wouldn't le tme sign up for another. But on teh same day, he went in and signed us all up.

Now I wonder if it took. This was yesterday for an event in my county. We had our confirmation at 9:15am yesterday for our volunteer opportunity.

Personally I find it rather tacky of Disney and I have had difficulty.

My first event was cancelled when Disney decided they did not qualify. Second event required too much leg work to get registerd additionally with the school district. It takes weeks to get cleared with them and no guarantee that I would be allowed on school property by teh volunteer date and that is the one I had scrapped.

The whole thing was poorly executed IMHO. Especailly for families with children.

I regestered I thought ,I just recived an e-mail from our choice, today ,I went on to manage my account and it says that our e-mail is not in there system,I am not too happy Now,We will still do this, but I think they should have listed how many people per opps that were needed like they listed how many remained:sad1:
I said this because I was not happy with myself and for waiting for an outside activity to do,,it is a shame that The other company's that just got on the list ,most likely won't get the same amount of volunteers ,We are doing the clean up Northern Ill, and we all know how much the outside along the roads and parks need cleaning after winter!

Apparently I did't finish my signup in time,I did get an e-mail from disney ,but not contacted in time for our op,so when I went back to the disney e-mail to finish ,it was closed,so if you just went to the page to find an op,and signed up there you were not done, now I think if disney already sent an E-mail that it should count ,Maybe I am wrong ,if I didn't want to do this I wouldn't have started the process.Man this would have helped my family of 8 :grouphug:

Promotions, give aways and discounts are always at the discretion of the company and can be pulled and ended at any time.
Disney had a quota on the promotion and that promotion has been met.

From the Disney website.

The overwhelming support we received for the "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." program has helped us reach our goal of inspiring one million people to volunteer a day of service to their communities. The program has now ended. Although you can no longer register and sign up for volunteer opportunities on this site to earn a free Disney Theme Park ticket, you can still continue to give back to your community by locating and signing up for volunteer opportunities through HandsOn Network.

Whether you're recognizing the spirit of volunteerism or a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary, only one question remains,
What Will You Celebrate?

The object of the program was to inspire people to volunteer, so whether or not you get a ticket if that is your objective nothing should have changed.

The program has met its numbers, reached an end, and people are still complaining about the original terms of the program? :confused3

I don't get that either.

But I don't blame people being upset for computer malfunctions or errors on Disney's part.

It doesn't make any of us a bad person who have been repeatedly trying to do things as Disney instructed and keep meeting problems with the process.

I guess I'm a little confused and would love some help - we signed up on Hands on Network Volunteer Opportunity Portal. I got an email back from them to confirm and did that. So I am signed up under Disney or not? Or how do you check? We'll still do the project either way, but just curious. Thanks!
