bummer! i thought i had signed my husband up to volunteer with me, but now he's listed with no volunteer opportunity and it's too late. i guess i'll be cleaning the beach without him!

He can still volunteer, he just won't get a voucher in return. He'll have to settle for the good feeling that comes from doing something good purely for the sake of doing it.

I agree! My mom signed upand never was contacted,and my 5&3yrolds wouldn't get a voucher,They have to pay for a ticket!Why can't they get a voucher?

They don't meet the age requirement. Getting a few free tickets is better than nothing.

The object of the program was to inspire people to volunteer, so whether or not you get a ticket if that is your objective nothing should have changed.

Nope, most people will not continue volunteering once they get their free ticket.

My 2 cents is that I don't think it's that big of a deal that they have ended the promotion. People have already volunteered and rec'd tickets that they will not use until later in the year. People were just proactive with their volunteering.
It's not like they discontinued the Birthday promotion in March and everyone with later birthdays were ineligible.

I did mine in early February and got my certificates shortly after. I knew this would end early (not THAT early though), and I am also certain that Disney knew they would run out very early, too. Just barely two months. I know Disney doesn't owe anyone anything..so no need to flame, but it really doesn't seem fair.

Because as stated in the beginning, you have to be 6 to qualify for the voucher.

and really enjoyed it. We still have more fleece for additional blankets with project linus. (Which I chose only because I had young kids and needed something they could help with.)

So maybe in some small way, Disney made an impact. I know for sure that 6 deserving kids will recieve a blanket when they need one.

A million may seem like a lot of people but when your average park attendence is 100,000 a day in the 4 theme parks of Disney World...well that's a lot of people that could be interested in a free ticket to Disney.

We're personally using the tickets for fastpasses and may donate one or two.

Sure reminds me of the Chicken Soup for the Soul story about the little boy throwing starfish back into the ocean and a grown up telling him that there were hundreds dying on the beach he couldn't make a difference. After thowing a star fish in the ocean, the little boy replied, "Made a Difference to That ONE."

May everyone who volunteered make a difference to one...even if you don't get into Disney free for a day.

Then Disney has made an impact in 2 million lives...the 1 million that volunteered, and the 1 million that received something because of that service.

They can't get a voucher because they didn't qualify for the promotion. No different than people who received the kids eat/play free offer but don't have kids ages 3-9.

I guess I'm a little confused and would love some help - we signed up on Hands on Network Volunteer Opportunity Portal. I got an email back from them to confirm and did that. So I am signed up under Disney or not? Or how do you check? We'll still do the project either way, but just curious. Thanks!

You should be able to check by managing your account on Disneyparks.com. Click on Give & Get on the top and then scroll down to the bottom. You should see Manage account. HTH

On Black Friday, I am going to tell Best Buy that they need to sell more $200 laptops because not everyone who wanted one got one.
Disney advertised from the beginning that this was a LIMITED promotion.
There is ALWAYS a need for service! I volunteered through Operation Binky and dropped off my blankets Monday. The contact person told me they were anticipating 7,000 blankets from the people who signed up under this promotion (AWESOME!!) but that 7,000 whould probably last only until September.

You are correct,I work for a company that needs alot of Volunteers and this was great for us,I volunteer when I can I just thought it would be nice if it ran longer ,and for my little ones to join in to learn life isn't all about what they get but what they can give ,the tickets were a nice perk I just wish it were alittle more organized .It was hard to get in contact with some of the company's on the link,However it did link me to way more op's then I knew where out there,My kids are so excited to do this ,I am sure the free ticket has something to do with it ,but they are kids and that is how they think,My little ones just are sad they don't get to join in ,they are 4 and 6 and know what this was about and do not understand why they can't do it

They can join you, they just can't get a ticket.

We volunteered and will probably donate our vouchers according to the website!

I was thrilled with the opportunity to find activities my kids could volunteer at! I have contacted many soup kitchens, community groups, etc and my kids could never help due to their ages (presumably d/t liability insurance issues)

We volunteered as a family and it was a great experience!! Volunteerism traditionally means there is no compensation!

You seem to be contradicting yourself. If you are trying to teach your children that it isn't about what they can get, then the fact that they cannot get a ticket should have absolutely no effect on the lesson you are teaching.

As has been stated, there is nothing stopping your children from joining in. I suspect that they aren't the ones that are going to pay for their WDW tickets, so why do they even have to know that there won't be ones in their name, anyway?
