Disney gift cards

Hi everyone...I have been reading these boards for a few months now in preperation for our March 21, 2010 Wonder cruise. It will be our first cruise ever! You all have very informative and I have learned alot from you. Thanks! I do still have a question, though. Do the giftshops on the ship or on Castaway Cay accept Disney gift cards, or do you have to charge everything to your room key?

Everything you purchase onboard, from the shops, bars, etc. will be charged to your onboard room account. They do not accept credit cards, gift cards or cash. You might be able to apply the gift card to your onboard account, but I'm not sure.

You can either go to guest services to apply your gift card to your onboard account, or you can even call ahead of time to have it added to your shipboard account before you sail. We've done it both ways and both have worked great.

Thanks for the replies! Family has been asking if they could get the kids anything for the cruise, and I have been telling them gift cards, so that way I won't have to pay for alot of things myself. Great to hear that I can apply them to the onboard account!

So if we have an OBC and a gift card they will use those before charging your account? We bought DS9 a gift card for the trip so he can buy his own stuff...

Yes, they will use up any OBC or any other amount that is deposited to your account, before they charge the credit card attached to the account. You just need to make sure that your DS's gift card is applied to the account.

Where do you buy Disney gift cards, though? Do you have to order them online? The Disney Stores near us have all closed...

Don't mind at all! I'm pretty sure you can order the gift cards online at Disneystore.com.
