Disney Gift Cards - Transfer balances from one card to another

I also had one card that I could not transfer to the GC that I had designated as my main GC. Sure enough, that card was one that I had gotten from Staples while the main GC was gotten through Target! I was going to usee my Disney Visa rewards to order some cute GCs to transfer other GCs to, but inow I'm wondering if that would be a waste of time? The different GC designs would make it easier to keep track of which one is which, instead of the generic ones from Target. When I tried to transfer balances to an older, cute GC with a $0 balance, it didn't work.

I wanted to do the same thing- we have a bunch of $10 gift cards from DMR... that I can't apply to our package online so I was going to give to my daughter. I was hoping to buy a halloween one for her and transfer everything. Hopefully they can get the glitch on yours figured out soon!

We consolidated gift card money across a whole stack of gift cards the other day down to one, worked just fine. All of our cards were bought on-site. If you're having trouble with the Target gift cards give guest services a call, maybe they can help or at least tell you why it doesn't work.

I would love to get some of the cute ones too! I just wrote the "name" of the gift card with a sharpie on back of my generic Mickey ones.

The main one that has the majority of my cards on it was a cute one (with Maleficent on it) that I bought from Disney Gift Cards online. Except for those 4 cards that I ended up combining into 1, I managed to transfer 20 cards onto it. However, it did have a balance on it already, so maybe that makes a difference? I like you wanted to use something distinctive so I'd know which ones were which. Still not sure why some cards aren't transferring as we've seemed to have determined that they've been bought at different places. And I never used a gift card to buy any of mine, so that's not it.

do you need a new log in for this function? I have a disney account that seems to work for everything else (including vacation account, park ressies, fast pass etc. I tried using it on the card site and no dice...

Finally!

I just combined 14 $50 gift cards and 1 $25 gift card into one gift card!

Going to save me so much time when I renew my AP at Disneyland in a few days.

You need to set up a new account on the Disney gift card site - it's a simple registration. Once you do that, go to manage my cards. You can register up to 5 cards at a time, then designate one card as your "primary" card and transfer the balances from other cards to the primary. You can also easily change which card is the primary. It's actually fairly easy once you get started.

Good luck!

I bought another Disney gift card with a Target gift card and it wouldn't allow me to transfer it to the one I paid cash for at Winn Dixie but did allow me to transfer it to the one my other Target gift cards bought. Seems weird but it works.

I'm doing the same thing - I have one main "target" Disney gift card - never have any trouble transferring Disney gift cards that I bought at target to it (usually with a target gift card, but sometimes with cash). Agree that it seems rather odd, but at least we can combine them and bring far fewer cards with us when we head down to Florida in a few months.

To check balances is there a less cumbersome way than logging in to this gc site and entering the primary card info. It doesn't seem to have synced with the Disney gift card APP, at least the cards didn't update for me.

Other than the benefit of the 20 gift card after $1000 spent, now that this is available, is there any reason to use the Disney Vacation Account?

I consolidated $4,000 worth of $50 giftcards into four cards this morning, while on conference calls at work. :)

It worked perfectly, was user friendly, and I had no trouble with any cards, even ones that were partially used. Cards were all purchased at Target.com. The maximum each card can hold is $1,000 and you can register five cards (so $5,000 per registered user).

Thank you Disney for figuring out that there was a need, and to those who posted it here. I am so happy not to have to carry all of those around and spend valuable vacation time redeeming them at the front desk.

33 days til we leave!:yay:

I just did this too! Same issue with Target GC - I could combine them together, but couldn't add them to the GC I bought at the grocery store.

Wow! I didn't know we could do this!!! Certainly will help. I hated the idea of keeping track of multiple cards.

i am so torn i started the process then ran into the target issue so i stopped with just moving 3 to 1. i have no idea what ones i bought at target so am i to understand targets and only be moved to targets and others can be moved to each other....i also have 3 DMR cards and they could not be moved......trying to think if its worth all this effort losing one 50 dollar card seems a lot better then 1 1000 dollar card.....

When I first encountered the problem of transferring the Disney gift cards that I got at Target to my other cards, I emailed Disney Guest Card Services. Here's the reply I got from them tonight:

"Thank you for contacting us with your inquiry. Some cards, depending on where they were purchased, cannot be merged. We apologize for the inconvenience."

So, Disney is aware of this glitch, but at this point it doesn't seem as if they can easily fix it.
