Disney Gift cards to pay for Disney Cruise?

The nice thing is that even without the snip snap coupon I bought $600.00 worth of gift cards and still saved $30 with a target debit card. So it's a really generous benefit that's offered.

Every little bit helps.

I don't get it? WHAT wasn't allowed?...buying gift cards with a credit card? How can they deny you? Please elucidate for me..:flower3:

after receiving the letter i called and was told that because i bought so many it showed that i was a business, that i was reselling them. i could not get them to understand that it was all for one trip, that lots of people do this. the letter pretty much said the same thing, that i was a business and i could not use my cc to purchase things for a business.
it was all just stupid in my mind.

Sounds great!! And if you book your NEXT cruise on board, you can save ANOTHER 10% on that cruise.

The only thing I will say is that with my Disney Visa I get 6 months to pay it off. With Target I get one month. If you aren't traveling for several months you can just keep buying a few gift cards every month instead of all at once. I have been getting the extra pharmacy rewards about once a month, so once a month I get the GCs.

Oh yes, I hadn't thought about that deferred payment with the Disney CC. You are right! Something to think about....
I just got my quote from DU and it's $400 higher than when I do the identical quote on Disney's site. ?????? They offer the $350 OBC, but so what. For some reason I was under the impression that the quotes would be the same after reading a gazillion threads on this forum. Disappointed. :-(
Has anyone else had this experience?

Slightly off topic, but I just booked a VGT rate. I grabbed it when I saw it - was afraid it would disappear if I waited. So of course I couldn't go buy GCs, although I had stocked up several hundred dollars worth that I did use. I put the rest on my Disney Visa. My question Is, if I now go and by GCs, will DCL let me "repay" using the cards and give me a credit back on my Visa? Anyone one this? I think I've done it but not on a PIF VGT rate.

Also, if you have time to wait, last year Target offered a coupon on their Facebook page that was for a $10 Target gift card with a $50 purchase and it could be combined with the redcard discount, so many people (including me) used that offer to buy the cards. For every 5 cards you bought, you could use those 5 gift cards to buy one more Disney card. I never did sit down and figure out the exact percentage that I saved, but I paid off our cruise and saved enough to cover the air fare.

BJ's also has the Disney Gift cards at reduced prices.

Thank you

ridiculous! We own a business....use c/c all the time to stock little amounts of certain items...They would have to have that covenant spelled out in the c/c agreement somewhere....smells like a big load of>>>well, you know>>>to me

I don't know for sure about gift cards, but I did this with my Disney Visa redemption card. It was not a VGT, but it was a cruise I booked after the PIF date.

The quote from DU should be exactly the same as a quote from DCL. I use DU and it is always exactly the same. My guess it the quote includes insurance. Ask about this and ask them to remove it, unless you want to include it, and it should bring the cost down to the same as the website. :)

Hi

How much are they at BJs?

Thank you

BJs gift cards are at a slight reduction. $25 gift card runs about $24 and change, $100 gift card is $95 and change. A savings if buying a lot, but not enough to make the effort if you do not live near a BJs.
I happen to work at BJs and I keep telling my DH that I will buy gift cards every week, then I get so caught up that I forget.

ETA if anyone wants exact BJs pricing, just say so, I will double check when I work today.

BJ's are 4%, so $95.99 for a $100 card. But you can use your Disney card and get rewards points too, so either another 1% or 2%.

it's all very complicated.

They did this the last two years. Your savings is about 20%. 25% if you used your target red card.

I used my Disney Visa Platinum and they confirmed it would get me 2% because of how Target was flagged in their system (grocery I think).

I only did about $700 worth of GC. The rest was done on my DVR which also game me 2% plus 6 months no interest.

There is an app to track all the GC - but you still can't combine them into one. It would be SO much easier...

I use the app, it is the easiest way to keep track. I was successful one time in having all of my GCs combined. I was trying to buy our tickets for DLR online through the tickets at work program and the website would only allow for the use of up to 3 GCs. Doing it this way would have wiped out any savings I earned because I would have had to pay anything over the $150 on a credit card and there was s $5 per transaction fee. I called the 800 number on the back of the card and explained what I needed and they told me to copy the backs of all the cards and fax them the copy. 20 minutes later, I got a call saying they were all combined into one $1000 card. That way I could buy all of our tickets in one transaction.

I almost did this but, my TA is a friend of mine and I was embarrassed to give her 40+ gift card numbers and make your input all those numbers. That would have been alot of work for only a $100 savings.

It wouldn't be so bad if they offered something larger than $50 cards.

If you are paying for multiple Concierge level rooms, I can only imagine how many different $50 cards you would need to use. The TA is going to earn his/her commission on that one.

Can you use Disney gift cards if booking through Costco? I'd love to get the Costco cash card (which I just found out about last week from this site!) but also get the discount from buying gift cards with my RedCard (which I also got recently since I spend so much at Target!!)

Does anyone remember when Target offered the $10 off $50 coupon on Facebook? I know I saw it and remembered the thread about buying Disney g.c. but I can't remember when it was. Anything I can do to convince my husband to take a cruise next summer will help!!!

I don't know for sure about gift cards, but I did this with my Disney Visa redemption card. It was not a VGT, but it was a cruise I booked after the PIF date.

Thanks, I think I'll call DCL tonight and ask them. Then I may head to target with my extra 5% rewards card and buy some gift cards.
