Disney gift cards question

My two sons have each been given a disney gift card from a relative for our upcoming first trip 7/18-7/25. Can they be used in any of the gifts shops. What experiences has anyone had with the gift cards vs. Disney Dollars or are they both easy to use within WDW?

How exciting that you will be going to Disney so soon!!! And even better, with Disney gift cards!!! Disney gift cards are accepted almost everywhere (just as Disney Dollars are). Here's a website that can give you more information about using Disney gift cards too:

Once you use them, if there is a balance left it will be printed out on the bottom of your receipt and it can be used until it's gone. You can continue to use it until it's gone and then if your total is more than your gift card balance, you can pay the remainder however you want (i.e. cash, credit card, room charge, etc...). Yes, that does help. We are so excited. We are going through lists and checking over making sure we don't forget anything huge.
