Disney Gift Card with new AP purchase.

Just to verify that this is similar to what I did a few months ago. I have an AP that expires next month. But I bought a voucher for a new pass, because of the gift card offer. I'm here at WDW, and just to be sure my "new" pass/voucher wouldn't activate, I went to Guest Services outside Animal Kingdom. They assured me that I was OK, that when I'm ready to activate my new voucher (February 2026 for me), I'll need to go to GS to activate it. I got my gift card within an hour of my purchasing the voucher.

I didn’t need to go to GS this weekend and my new pass worked.

So, you may not need that stop!

You have a year to activate the voucher so if you buy now, it needs to be started by end of Sept 2026.

After that, you have the value you paid toward a new one so if there is a price increase between now and then, you’d have to pay it to activate this next December

A renewal is active as soon as its new year begins, e.g. if the current one expires 9/26, the renewal starts 9/27.

A new one activates when you tap into your first park. I guess you could activate it by visiting GR and then not entering a park right away, but why would you want to activate it and start the clock ticking on your year if you’re not entering a park that day?

If you’re talking about activating a new one accidentally without tapping in, no, you can’t.

Oh, gotcha. Unfortunately, I don’t think that will work. You’d end up with a credit you could apply to yet another new AP - but you’d have gotten the gift card if you buy it now!

You’re probably better off to wait and buy the new one less than a year from the start of your October 2026 trip. Or else buy the new one now and move that October trip to September 2026, to avoid a likely price increase by then.

Okay thanks. Darn. Im thinking end of September is still a bit too hot for us and we want to go to MNSSHP closer to Halloween. Oh well no big deal, maybe they will have another offer this time next year.

The price increase could happen at any time and you’d be subject to it if you don’t activate the voucher by Sept 2026.

Once that year is up, all you have is a value of what you paid toward a new pass

Understood … would that credit value be the current price plus tax or would it be current price plus tax MINUS the $75 value of the gift card?

Trying to wrap my brain around if getting the $75 gift card now might mitigate the future price increase since we are probably going to buy a new pass rather than renew our current either way. Guess I need to make a decision today as the offer is expiring.
