Disney Gift Card - What if I cancel?

I was thinking of using the discount SAMs Club has on Disney Gift cards to pay off the balance remaining for my upcoming trip. I was wondering though what happens if something happens and the trip has to be cancelled. If you paid by gift cards how are you refunded? I assume if I paid by credit card my credit card would be refunded. But what happens if the whole trip was paid using gift cards?

The money goes back on the gift cards.

Don't use gift cards if you think you might have to cancel and use that money for something else.

Do the gift cards expire? So if I rebooked for a year or two later I could use the gift cards again.

I don't think they expire, but keep in mind that if you lose them you cannot get them replaced without the original cash register receipt.

I wouldn't use them unless I was absolutely sure that I wouldn't need to cancel.

I was not aware of this discount offered by Sams! And I am a regular Sams customer! I just read that Sam's now accepts various credit cards (Previously, I always had to use my Discover) Soooo if I buy the Disney gift cards from Sam's at almost a 5% discount AND use my Citicard "Doublecash" Mastercard (2% cashback) I will get almost 7% total savings! 7% off of a wdw vacation is nothing to turn your nose up at!!


Thanks for posting this! Every time I come to Budget Board I find a way to make/save $ for WDW!
