Disney Gift Card Magnetic Strip

Hello!
I am still deciding how much cash to bring and how many Disney Gift cards to have preloaded for our upcoming trip. My biggest fear of using gift cards is something might happen to the magnetic strip and I won't be able access what is on the card. Has anybody ever had this issue and if for some reason the magnetic strip doesn't work, is there a way for Disney to retrieve the amount off the card? THANK YOU!!!

THANK YOU! Do you know if I have to formally register the card online for Disney to know the amount on the card or does it automatically register with Disney when I load it at the supermarket when I buy it? TYIA! Cheers!

You can also just go to Guest Services on your first day and give them your gift card and they'll apply it to your stateroom. So you don't need to actually have to use the card at the shops, bars, etc. Just charge it to your stateroom and they'll take it out of your gift card amount before adding it to your credit card.

You don't have to register a gift card, once you buy it it's activated and the funds are available. I would recommend registering them on the website if you have multiple cards though. On the website you can combine all the funds of your giftcards onto one card, that way you only have to worry about keeping up with that one.

Yes, do This! A couple of cruises ago, target messed up on activating $600 worth of gift cards and I didn't check them before I left for the cruise. They were no good even with my receipts. I glad to use the cc and then target refunded everything once I got home, but it was a pain and I lost the 5% target discount.
