Disney Gift Card Deals

So I tried a different Target last night, self-checkout, and was able to purchase $200 of Disney GCs and other items. I still have about $50 left on the Target card, which I will use this weekend.

The self-checkout gave me an issue regarding recognizing my reusable bag so the employee had to come over to bypass it, but she didn't seem to care (or didn't see) that I had Disney GCs.

I bought a Target GC for my niece. Physical from online. I'm guessing that one is safe? I don't want to give her a scratched off card to find out!!
I'll still mention the possible issue to her. I'd rather not have to deal with it though.

I have (2) $300 Target cards that I bought in-store during the promo. I am planning to use them this weekend, but I was thinking about checking the balance on them before I go to the store, just to make sure they are still intact. Then it dawned on me that I have to scratch off the back to check the balance...wouldn't that make it harder to "prove" that I haven't used them? I have the receipts for both of them but I don't think that would help at all if they were drained by someone else.

Ugh...this is so stressful! I hope they are intact, but after the mess I had to deal with when my Starbucks account was hacked (and over $600 was charged to 3 different credit cards!), I am so nervous now. I have to run to Target today, but I really wanted to wait until Sunday to see if they run the $5 FWP deal for gift cards again. I figure that if they are going to do it, it will be the last week before Christmas. If I convert to Disney today, there will probably be a deal on Sunday:crazy2:.

Someone has already posted that they have seen a scan of next week's Target ad and it doesn't mention the $5 gift card promo.

There is no deal for gift cards. Here's the ad that starts 12/18 http://www.totallytarget.com/2016/12/15/sneak-peek-target-ad-scan-for-week-of-1218-1224/

Thanks! Now I can grab my Target gift cards and turn them into Disney ones while I am out. I am a very impulsive Target shopper and today, I only needed toilet paper, paper towels and dog food. I decided to go online and place an order for in-store pickup so that I am not tempted by all of the other goodies. I guess now I will have to venture deeper into the store and do a little more shopping than I had planned:love:.

I tried to buy Disney gift cards and got the same error as your husband. Like you, I think I'll just buy $100 worth of groceries.
I'm going to give it a shot tonight. Mypoints has a few in store promotions which I'll pick up (armor all and tazo) which should help me get to $100. It's so rare for me to spend this much in one trip but my kids will be home for a whole week:) so I'm sure I can figure it out.

Question for those who combine Disney cards...do you all leave the cards that have a balance on your Disney card account or delete everything once you are done combining? I don't have a Disney trip planned but am slowly buying gift cards with free money (Swagbucks, rebates, etc...). I bought 900 with the Target GC sale and this morning I combined and have a total of 3 cards with about 1500 total on them. I keep the physical cards in a safe, but like having them also on my account, but am worried about the security and someone stealing my balance from my account. Especially, since it may be a couple years til I use them. What is everyone's thoughts?

I leave them I personally want to have immediate access in case I misplace the card, with that being said I never had mine sitting with high balances for more than a couple of months.

For Kroger shoppers, I used the regal gift card digital coupon and for some reason it took $10 off each gift card. So I got a $15 and a $25 gift card (they only had one loadable one to put $15 on) for $20. And the coupon is still on my account???

I purchased (3) $15 Petco GCs last night and the coupon did the same thing. I paid $15 for $45 worth. :rolleyes1 sounds like it's glitching

With regard to @kool_kat question above, I tend to keep them loaded on there myself.. Although I typically share the same worries as you. One thing that I remind myself is that their system sends automatic emails anytime any activity occurs (like should someone transfer the balance from that card to another). I feel that even if someone were able to hack my account, that's really the only thing they could do as only the last 4 digits of the gift card are visible. So they wouldn't be able to use them to make purchases.

That being said, I've never had cards sit on there with balances that I wasn't planning on using within a couple months. If I were in your shoes and didn't plan on using them for a year or more, I would probably not leave them on there just to be extra safe.

I originally posted my story/issue on the Gift card thread, but I thought this might deserve its own.

I purchased $1000+ electronic Target cards for Cardpool on Feb.23 and these were emailed to me the same day. I checked them all on my Target app to make sure they were loaded. I used one $50 card to make a purchase off Target.com.

On Feb 29, I went to use the rest, but they all had a zero balance except one. When I looked up all the codes, they had all been spent in a Target store in Virginia, I live in MA.

I naturally assumed Cardpool had something to do with it. Either the original owner used them or resold them, somehow Cardpool resold them. I wasn't sure, but that is where I started. I emailed their customer service email address, I tried calling the 800 number I found online. I received an email response the next day asking for me info. I sent my follow up email and never got a reply. I sent a few more emails, no reply. On March 4 I filled out a BBB complaint, after reading some of the complaints I felt this might help. Cardpool had until March 21 to respond. Yesterday the finally sent me an email.

First they stated they couldn't refund me because the cards were used while in my possession. When I said I didn't use them and live in a different state and suggested that the original owner might have used them. They replied with an apology that this happened and that all the card were used on the same day at the same location, in my possession. I replied again asking about their terms of use and what protects the buyer. This is when they finally mentioned (should have lead with this in my opinion) that all the cards were acquired from different people.

So now I got really confused and conspiracy like. So many thoughts, did someone hack my email? Did someone hack their email? Could an employee of cardpool have taken the email? Does it have something to do with my target account? Like I said, all over the place. I don't feel it has to do with my email, that means someone knows enough to watch me and find my email of codes within my email, not possible.

However, here is the very interesting part. If you google "my electronic target gift cards were stolen", there are a ton of complaints. One woman even said she does the churning of target to Disney cards. She had a physical target gift card that she purchased from target just to add her discounted electronic ones to that main card. That main card was on her target.com account and somehow it was stolen and used in a different state. She fought target and they sided in her favor.

I called target and they opening an investigation. This all happened last night. The gift card specialist returned my call but said because I do not have a receipt and purchased the cards from cardpool, they have no responsibility. They also, mentioned that they do not see the cards linked to my account. I am filing an investigation with my local PD, but my cop friend told me it will likely fall on deaf ears, especially because they were used in a different state.

So if you take anything away, read up on the people who say their target electronic cards were stolen out of their target account. I was shocked. They mention that target doesn't have very good security on them. Read up! For me, even with this loss, I am still ahead on my saving (my way to not be completely depressed about it), but I will not be doing the gift cards anymore! To much of a risk, to much fraud. I used to think it was only a risk with buying from the discount sites and having to use them ASAP, now I am not even sure about targets cards! If you happen to know anything I didn't think of to get my money back, please let me know!

The above is what happened to me in March of this year. I have stayed away from any type of gift card sale/deal since. Hearing about all the issues every one is having makes me so sad for them and myself again.

For the people that have had target judge in their favor, is there something they can see on the history of the gift card to know you didn't use it? I am wondering if I should try again!

Perhaps you could put them in a Disney Vacation account, and I believe you can purchase gift cards from your account once you are ready (make sure to order them with plenty of time for shipping). The DVA also acts like a gift card for certain Disney purchases.

He tried twice to buy a $100 Walmart gift card, and it failed both times. Then he tried it just buying a pack of gum and it worked. He didn't try 3rd party cards. I think we'll go back toward the end of this month and just buy $100 worth of groceries.
So I got it to work but it was complicated because you can't pay with Walmart pay and use ibotta so I had to do two transactions. I added a $25 Walmart gift card to get to $100 and was able to use Walmart pay and the $20 egift card showed up immediately. Used that for the other transaction. Hope mypoints will accept an e receipt for their in store promotion offers.

I agree about DVA. Once you convert whatever it is to Disney Gift Cards, that's kind of the end of the line until you spend it. DVA allows you to use your Disney Gift Cards to make contributions to your account and earn $20 for every $1000 spent after your account has been open for 120 days. DVA is one last opportunity to earn another 2% back, which is better than letting your gift cards sit in a safe somewhere.

Do you normally shop at target? I lump my giftcards into my regular shopping and don't make a peep as to how much is on my gift card. My Target shopping trip was over $1000 ($900 was Disney) this week, but the total dropped way down after I used three $300 gift cards LOL!!!!
We used too, then we started going to Costco. I guess I will just buy some with my red card and use them for some regular shopping. Too bad no one had anything from target on their wishlist

I'm heading to Sam's Club today and I will be sure to check if the Disney gift cards are included in their gift card sale.

Also, when I went to Target yesterday, I used my $600 in gift cards towards $600 in Disney gift cards (plus another $150ish in other stuff) without an issue. In fact, the cashier even commented that it is a great way to save for a Disney trip.

Gift card sale at Sam's? I must have missed a post. Can someone elaborate or point me in the right direction? Thanks!

They are having a one day sale again where certain third party gift cards are an extra discount like they did before Black Friday. During that sale Disney gift cards were not part of the discounted gift cards.
