Disney Gift Card Deals

It's not GCM's decision. To buy thousands of Target gift cards, you need a special purchase with Target. They are not just buying them off the website. Target is not selling them to GCM right now because they were losing money on the transactions and the gift cards just went to churners not people spending them on products. Target is controlling the shortage not GCM.
Agreed the shortage is either target or ebay's doing (or both). I say that because I know others have posted gift card mall's responses to inquiries that eBay determines what they can sell on their site and suspect eBay could have been losing out on the whole target-eBay churn as well (selling discounted gift cards to target and then giving 10% eBay bucks plus 1% ebates when the churners turned them back into target cards. Target is still selling to gift card mall as they have cards avail for purchase on their own website as well as their displays in other stores (like Kroger/giant eagle/etc). Target may have just prohibited GCM from selling their cards on eBay (or perhaps eBay did-we will probably never know)

oddball(maybe) question...any data points on random ebay problems... I know ebay has a pretty good record of refunding money for a falsely advertised purchase(say a phone that doesn't work after all) but what about a gift card purchase? I'm talking about smaller sellers- what is the IRL handling like if a gc purchase goes all wrong? (example, I order a barnes and noble gc (not from a major auth. seller) ,and it shows up at my door, and ends up with a 0 balance, and i can;t use it- does ebay provide the same protection as with regular items? (I am not asking to be dishonest in ANY way, just if the card isn't as advertised...)

Agreed, GS is a small company. This won't last, especially not with people running $500 thru daily. They cannot afford to soak up losses like Target, nor is their company so spread out that one dept wont notice what's happening in another. Personally I just don't see the draw in churning GS. Tried it, it worked out ok, but w the hour it takes to do a flip, it's just not earning it's value in time spent. And if you have to drive at all, the gas money will eat up any Ebates.

I guess I don't see how GS is losing money. You buy the GS gift cards at full price from Ebay, then go to GS to buy a $100 Ebay card with a $100 GS card, same as if you paid with $100 bill. The only one really losing $ is Ebay with their promos. Target, yes, with the 5% off but that doesn't apply to GS.

In my opinion, they would only be losing money when offering the discounted gift cards we've seen lately. Even then, the commission they get from selling 3rd party cards probably offsets the discount they offered on their own cards. Given that same scenario, I think its reasonable to assume that they actually profit when us churners use GS gift cards we paid full value for. But I could be wrong.

Most people are not buying GS GCs at full price. In the last week, we saw $5 bonuses and $10 bonuses. So GS is losing big on those transactions, which they do to draw you in to buy a game with good margin. But if you only buy an Ebay gift card, then they lose money.

Even at full price, you have to remember when you buy a GC from GCM, GCM bought that GC at a steep discount from GS. Think about it. GCM pays a 10% Ebay fee to sell it, so they're making at least 10% on the purchase side. GS is willing to sell their GCs to GCM at this discount because their products have more than 10% margin. Even when you are paying full price for your gift card, Game Stop only gets around 90% of that. 10% loss to them every cycle. (10% went to an Ebay fee which works its way back to you as EBucks, and 1% went to GCM. Then you don't go and buy something with 15% margin, making the net sale profitable, instead you buy an Ebay GC which GS sells at face value, for minimal profit. Say they buy the Ebay GCs at $.95/$1.00. They're losing. I assure you this is bad volume for them. This giftcard churning is not in any way business that is strategically desirable for GS to have. Being a much smaller company, I'm sure the instant this activity works its way to the right people it will end.

I can agree with that but I wonder if GCM actually pays such high fees to sell on eBay. Various responses from GCM that people have posted on here allude to the fact that GCM is basically acting as "fulfillment agent" for physical gift cards sold by eBay. This is evident in how they direct requests for specific brands to eBay, so my best guess is that they aren't a seller in the traditional sense and probably don't pay as high in fees. I still agree, however, that this practice is probably not the best for Gamestop (one reason why I don't enter my member number every time - rewards cost them even more) and we will probably see it come to end sooner rather than later.

With the massive amount of power up reward points we've also been receiving for gift card churning, they have been losing revenue. Just cashed out my points yesterday for a $50 pre-owned video game I paid $0 for.

I wouldn't doubt it for one second that retailers are either looking at this exact thread or other similar ones on different forums.

I find it humorously ironic about us getting the rewards from GS. I actually first found out about them offering double points, and that 3rd party gift card purchases were included as eligible to earn points, in a promotional email I received from them directly. I bet now they're thinking "this isn't what we meant, people!" LOL.

I don't do the points. I try to fly under the radar.

I guess I was wrong about them losing money.

So, I sent a message to NGC about whether or not they plan to expand their selection. I post their response without comment or insight. Let the speculation begin.

We have plans on adding more brands, we are currently looking into Target however Walmart is not something that we can offer at the moment.

Thank you for your message.

Hi! I discovered that you are selling individual gift cards on eBay now. My question is: do you plan on expanding your selection at all in the near future? I regularly buy Target and Walmart gift cards for friends and family. I'd like to be able to purchase cards for these retailers through eBay. It's the most convenient for me, and there aren't any reputable sellers who list them. Thank you for your time and I will be sure to follow your store!

ok maybe my computer is wonky today.... i tried the search feature here and no go.... in placing a target order today using some gc's (just stuff I needed) I tried to add a disney gc just for haha's to see if it would work.... nope- site said in store only.... did I miss this somewhere along the last few pages? I can handle the surprise at that:scared1::rotfl2: just wondering as I thought I had seen posts that they could be gotten online....

$50 has been out for a while. It's not letting me add $100 either. Says I've reached my maximum quantity (apparently that's 0).

It looks like National Gift Card is either out of Game Stop GCs or they removed the listing.

I need some help from the experts
Ok ready to use my exit strategy. I am getting impatient and we have a trip coming up. I tried to buy BB from PPDG on eBay (I know I know... It can be iffy) but when I put in the eBay gift card the confirm and pay button doesn't light up. It I click on PayPal it says "we can't apply this code to your order. Contact PayPal service to resolve this issue" Help!! I'm only buying a $50 card and it's my first time!

To add to my previous post, I went to my local gamestop today at lunch. I used some reward points to buy a couple used games. The store manager was working, so I asked him if there had been any policy change regarding gift card purchases. He said no. He said they are supposed to verify that there is nothing 'funny' going on and that people aren't gaming the system. He said he had no problem with me buying ebay gift cards, it bring money into his store. I bought a $300 ebay card. So, it appears as others have said, this is really a store manager/ district manager decision.

I was able to purchase 3 $100 Disney GCs yesterday (with Target GC) and received shipping notification today.

So I just got off the phone with PayPal... He told me that I shouldn't be buying a gift card with a gift card... But anyway I should wait the 24 to 48 hours and try again. Good grief!
