Disney Gift Card Deals

Just ordered an ebay gift card on Target dot com with 4 cleaning supplies (they were having a buy 3 get 1 free sale). I went thru Ebates, but no pending cashback has shown up.
Does it sometimes take a few hours (or longer) to show up, or did I hit on one of the categories of things they won't accept? Everything will be put to good use, so it isn't that big a deal if I don't get a rebate, but I would like one :genie:

Household essentials are excluded from cash back which is what I think cleaning supplies falls under do I don't believe you will get ebates.

Well, so far so good. This morning I ordered an electric razor my husband wanted (only the razor - no gift cards). I received the "we received your order" e-mail which is better than yesterday when I got the canceled notice first. I'm going to lay off the gift cards for a bit (since we aren't having any bonus ones right now it's probably a good time for a break) and try to order more non-gift card items online. Generally, target is a little more expensive (the razor was a couple of bucks more) but between the 5% and hopefully ebates, it's worth it if it helps preserve my account.

Another thing I do (and I have no idea if it helps or not) - when I get a cancelled order I go to Target and replace the gift cards I was using with new ones. In this instance I also combined to two large gift cards. I'm wondering if a cancelled order has something to do with the gift card and it taints it. The only reason I say this is the last time I had cancelled orders, I started by buying target gift cards off target in order to combine my cards to 4 gift cards. I immediately then took those e-gift cards and tried to buy ebay gift cards and that was then things started getting canceled. Once I went and exchanged them for new gift cards, I had no problems buying again on target . com. Just a random thought but since I was going to target anyways (cause I really wanted that shaving cream lol), plus I needed to combine them, I think it may be a good idea.

My experience has been that I don't get my ebates cash back notice until I get the shipping notice from Target that my items (the GCs) have shipped. That's often quite a while after I have already received the GC codes in my email. But as has already been pointed out, "household essentials" are excluded from cash back, so you may not see anything from ebates.

For those who are getting their orders with gift cards canceled, have you tried putting in GC-less orders? I put in orders for just groceries and everyday essentials every now and then to mix up my order history so that every order isn't one with a gift card. I admit I sometimes do this after a cancelation just to check that my account isn't banned. I know other people here occasionally don't activate Ebates. I'll also occasionally order just a gift card without an add-on item, essentially forgoing the cash back, again to vary my shopping patterns.

You might be on to something there. I did a comparison above of my orders/cancellations wondering if it was Ebates, an extra item or what? But now that I think about it, all of the cancels were gift cards paid with gift cards. Of course, I've also had several successful orders of gift cards paid with gift cards; but I've never had a straight up tangible product order canceled when I paid with 'real' money.

For what it's worth, I've never had a cancelled order, and I always put at least a little on my RedCard, though most of the order is paid with gift cards. It's a bit of a hassle, but there's always something on sale that I can use, and it seems to keep me on the up and up with Target (no pun intended).

Thanks for answering, Marionnette, appreciate it! Well, I guess I have a little more tolerance for risk, but you're right, everyday is too much! But, I might do every other day for a few times then break, or purchase some in store. I sure wish they'd bring back the $100 Disney gc's soon! That would take many less orders! For a couple of the churns thru target back in Feb and early Mar I put in 2, 3 (4?, I forget,), quick orders to do the promo bucks offers they came up quicker than expected. Right now, that seems like a lot in retrospect, and all went fine, but would rather avoid too much now. I do wonder if the kind of cards purchased make any difference in the canceling some are experiencing. So far I've been lucky, and thankful for that. That's why I don't do the $200 cards just in case, as they seem to gave more trouble going thru.

I'd still be interested to hear how others do their purchasing. I bet promo offers spur sudden multiple purchases we might not attempt otherwise, lol. I do like the GS churn as long as that will still work as it saves a round of target purchasing, wish it helped more with the Disney gc's, too, lol.

I was ordering every other day. I had 3 orders cancelled last week. I tried again Sunday night - this time only a $200 Ebay card, no ebates. Went through just fine. I put a little on my red card this time too. I'm going to wait a week between orders. I will still be able to do 2 a week using my husbands account & red card.

This is what I've always done too. I don't do as many orders as some, but I've never had one cancelled (knock on wood!).

If I have $150 gift cards from GCM, I usually buy $475 worth of ebay gift cards. With the 5% off, that comes to $451.25 and then add a small item and end up charging $2.50-$3 to my redcard. I don't know if that matters or not, but so far, I've never had a problem.

If you buy something at the actual stores with the redcard, does that go onto your account transaction history?

I received my redcard, but haven't used it in store yet.

If I purchase a Disney gc from target with an item I need, will they ship it together or do the gcs still ship separate?

Mine have always shipped separate but I feel like someone posted recently that their GC's shipped with items.

I have ONE time received gift cards individually wrapped inside a plastic Target package that contained a t-shirt order. They were individually wrapped inside plastic Target shipping material. 3 gift cards in 3 separate bags. Almost got thrown away because my husband throws everything away.

Your in-store purchases won't show up on your online account, if that's what you're asking.

That being said, I'm sure Target tracks them and factors them into their (random) decision to flag/ban you.

Thanks.

I'm just going to do in store pick up and there's free shipping on the website too which is cool. I'm actually closer to a Target than a Wal-Mart, so I shop there often. Might just do all my shopping online with Target now.

This is exactly what I'm doing too. In my case, I have to put at least something on my RedCard in order to get the 5% discount, so I work it so only the add on item is being charged to the RedCard. For example, If I order $600 in ebay gift cards (often three $200 cards, but sometimes mixing it up with other denominations), I'll also add in a Target egift card for $30 (which is the amount of the 5% RedCard discount), plus the Ebates eligible add-on item. I'll pay with $600 in Target gift cards (which covers the ebay GC's and the Target GC) with the balance going to my Target RedCard (covers the add on item). This keeps my churning gift cards separate from my add on purchases and makes accounting easier for me. It also keeps me from having odd amounts left on gift cards.

ETA: I've been doing this consistently for the past six months and haven't had any orders cancelled (knock on wood).

I like this - that's how I think and am all about my "separate accounting". I may adopt this.

I wonder if they compare purchases to stated income (I assume they asked for that on the debit card application
I just filled one out for my wife. No income asked.

Has anyone else ever received the "seller only allows purchases every 10 days" message?
I never have, but I haven't ordered since March. I hope this isn't the new norm. This will put a kink in churning.

PSA: Amazon is now allowing gift cards to be purchased with gift cards.

Not sure now long this will last, but it looks like they changed something or it's a possible error in the system. YMMV.

Also FYI, the Amazon Kindle cards they have in Gamestops and other GC spindles and shelves work on anything at Amazon.

YMMV is a definite.
I have read on another board recently that Amazon let the sale go through but canceled it with a message that GCs cannot be used to purchase GCs.
