Disney Gift Card Deals

Thanks so much for the response. I didn't even think about not being able to use an Amazon gift card to buy another gift card. I hadn't checked Ebay for Carnival yet. Great to know. So, that would probably be my best bet - use swagbucks, Target, Ebay, then Carnival with some possible churning between Target and Ebay.

Such a DVC-wanna-be here. I almost had my dh talked into it about 4 years ago but he couldn't commit and now prices have gone up a lot. We could have owned by now with all our DVC rentals and resort stays. We are planning our first DCL trip in 2017 but want a few nights at WDW also. Keep me in mind if anyone wants to rent their points :))

My churning since end of November has netted about $1500 free dollars. Our trip is in September and we are staying at the Poly (two rooms) so at this point my free money has paid for one of the rooms for the week!!!! I hope I can continue to earn enough to cover our food also. We pay OOP for that.

I am continually amazed by how well you are all doing with churning! Keep your eye on the resale market. You never know, maybe you will find a DVC contract there. Can't buy with gift cards, but you can pay the dues!

Yes! Resale all the way! That's what we did. We bought at the end of 2015 and our dues for 2016 ended up being included in the payment (if we closed before a certain date, it was ours to pay when they came due and if it was after, we had to pay them with the contract). I was soo hoping to pay Disney because I could've saved on GC's and stuff. It would be awesome to pay for dues next year with gift cards.

I went to Disney for 10 days while ApplePay bonus was in effect, that helped a lot! (Especially buying 4 APs), plus Kohls at Christmas, Best Buy, Staples....I also got a few gift cards in before that got shutdown. ETA oh, and Meijer, that was really good too, especially since I moved.

I have a December use year, so we hit the tail end of things, anyway, and I only have 75 points. I will likely bank 2017 points, and either use them in 2019 at VGC, or rent them out and use that towards our '19 plans (out west to see the sites and, of course, DL) and then return to WDW in '20 when (hopefully) they have all the new stuff done :) I will used banked '18 points and '19 points for that (and borrow from '20 if need be; depends on if we do a cruise too, and how many people are involved lol).
I actually went in November and used my apple pay for everything I could. But I had already bought my AP before the trip. Plus it was just DH and I so we didn't spend as much. Went back in January with kids and their boyfriends. Now, that trip woukd have been nice to use the apple pay discover promotion for! Where I live not that many stores even take apple pay yet. That sounds like a good plan with your points. I would like to start churning more, but so far have only done the target to Disney gift card part. But I did use my Disney gift cards to pay my dues this year so that saved quite a bit! Lucky for us, we bought in before the prices were so high for DVC and we also added on with resale.

That's amazing because I started just a month later. You clearly embraced the process and made it work for you. Was any of the $1500 made through SB or just cashback/rewards from purchases? I just made my first ebay purchase for the 3x bucks, I kept it small (by this boards standards) because I was more interested in focusing on the process and making sure I have it down. Initially I was just happy to get the double discount (Raise+Redcard, then added Ebates) and would cash into Disney GCs immediately. That little effort gave me a 15% +/- discount toward my DVC dues. Your success has me motivated, I'm going to work on a spreadsheet this weekend and check out the SB thread to see if I can get to the next level. I have never regretted my DVC obsession but the dues have always been a thorn, I am giddy at the thought of nullifying that annual expense.

Good for you! I paid our dues with all gift cards that I combined. I didn't get them all free churning, but I did get a discount which was better than last year paying with my credit card. Although that was nice to get air miles. :) we bought in 2008 direct and added on in 2013 when we found a great BWV contract which is our favorite resort.

I, of course, have heard of ApplePay but dismissed it :guilty: because I didn't think it really offered anything for me. Was the bonus just associated with its roll-out, is it still worth it without the bonus? Guess I will add that to my homework for this weekend. Honestly there is soooooo much to learn on this thread my head is always spinning. I keep thinking the learning curve will slow down, but wow, more options to investigate keep rolling in. So appreciative of you and all of the other innovative people on this thread sharing your successes (and missteps) here.

I believe you can still get the double cash back, so 1% now and 1% after a year, but the ApplePay 10% bonus was only good through Dec 31 :(

Ya, I did check it out and nothing about the bonus, wow 10%, definitely was a nice time to be in WDW.

On top of that 10% - those with a new account could get double on the apple pay bonus at the end of their first year - so really 20% cash back!! Believe me, I spent as much on souvenirs as I could . If I didn't have the trip to WDW planned while that promotion was in effect I don't think I would have opened a new account. I had never really thought about using apple pay before. But, once I did, I actually found it very convenient and will use it again where available.

If I were to create myself a whole new eBay account in hopes of getting any of the extra ebuck offers, would I need a new Paypal account as well or could I just link my current one?

Oh my 20%!:earseek:and I was in WDW in March and November. I did go and check out the website, it actually sounds great, but I might wait a bit to see if they put out any other promotions to encourage new accounts. I know it won't be 20% but they may roll something out, fingers crossed.

I only have earned $25 from SB's so far so not much of my money has come from there. I am just getting started with that and Perk (nothing from them yet). Mine is literally from buying discounted gift cards (or less often, fuel rewards), cashback sites, redcard discount and churning. I earned a lot in the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think I took advantage of just about every ebucks promo but one. There hasn't been as much opportunity since the first of the year so my earnings have slowed but my amount I am churning is larger so I am earning more on it, of course.

It's been fun to do, and I've been really motivated seeing my 'earnings' pile up. Our trip will be far from free (I wish!!) but I started this process saying if I could just cover our food but then I realized that was a puny goal so I bumped it up to covering one of our rooms. That has now been met and I still have plenty of time to earn enough to cover our food also.

I just wanted to update my progress...

I'm aiming to acquire all of the gift cards that I need for our October trip at a 30% or better savings. I just bought $50 worth of Target gift cards on Raise with only a 4.1% discount. I received them instantly and turned around and purchased a single $50 Target e-gift card with them. When I plugged the numbers into my spreadsheet, I am sitting at a cumulative savings of 31.11%:cool1:. This does NOT take into account the fact that I am using my PayPal debit card to pay for the discounted cards. Some (but not all) of the PayPal money was earned from E-Bates, Sunshine Rewards, and PayPal (I get a 1% rebate every time I use the card) so there is additional savings there, but it is way too hard for me to keep track of it.

I checked over my budget today and realized that, right now, I am only about $150 short of the total amount that I plan on taking:banana:. That's perfect because I put $75 every two weeks into our vacation account AND I'm also donating plasma twice a week which nets me another $70/week. At this rate, I will have our 2017 trip to HHI paid for before the end of the year:cheer2:.

I think it was a special promotion because of them trying to roll out more people using apple pay. It was only good for a few months. I think it started in September or October, I got the card in October and was able to use it in WDW in November. They may have another promtion for new accounts in the future, but probably not this good! Wish I could have used it more, but just not enough places that take apple pay where I live.

Yes, it was a special promotion, just for Discover cards using ApplePay that happened because Discover was new to ApplePay. I would not expect it to happen again.
