Disney Gift Card Deals

Hi everyone! I have been reading this post for hours. About the time I get a method down, I realize that it is no longer working or you have to wait for a certain deal to be going on. Can anyone give me the readers digest version of the best deals going on right now? I would really appreciate it!
It's all relative to your time horizon, risk tolerance, stores in your area, credit cards in your possession, etc.

My best deal is to buy Target gift cards at Kroger using my Amex blue preferred during 4x fuel points. I use those at target.com with my redcard set as default payment. With a 20 gallon tank my savings are about 19%.

Let me see if I have this straight, if I go through TCB or Swagbucks and buy GC's off of somewhere like Raise for Target I get a % off, then I take the target GC's I purchased and buy Disney GC's while my Target card is linked as primary and it gives me my 5% off ? So is the best option? TIA!
Only you can decide if that's the best option for you. It worked well for me last year, and it is fairly consistent. However, the Target cards are now going for less than 5% off, so you may want to use ebates when you purchase on Target. Several folks have had good luck adding something to their purchase, and then getting a rebate on their whole purchase. ( If you purchase only a Gift card, there will be no rebate.)

There is no one way that works for everyone, and stores and websites can change rules and/or run out of stock. That's why we are always writing about did and did not work for us; it helps to have another method in your back pocket.

That would be nice!!! Stick to reading the last 5-6 pages when you sign on, and eventually something will come up that works for you.

Everyone's method is different.

Mine is simply Ebay>GS. Rinse, repeat. I'm not sure what my exit strategy is right now, but I have months to wait for the dust to settle to figure it out. Worst case scenario, I'll buy up some product from GS and sell on Ebay. If I wind up with a loss, I'll still be well ahead.

However, GS is very YMMV, so proceed at your own risk. At this point in the game it is all about caution, discretion and risk tolerance.

Just realized another (possible) good credit card to use for other giant eagle/getgo shoppers. Usually (if not always) when giant eagle runs a double fuel perks promo at giant eagle they also do at getgo. My new Costco Visa card just came in the mail to replace the Amex since they are parting ways. It say 4% back on eligible gas up to $7,000 max. As long as get go is eligible it would be another way to get a good cash back deal. The best I've seen is 6% on American Express preferred blue up to a max of $6,000 but with the $75 yearly fee you really are only getting at 4.75% IF you spend the full $6000 ($6000*0.06=$360-75 fee=$285/$6000 spent=4.75%)
For anyone who doesn't want a yearly fee this might be an great find (assuming it does work to get the 4% back and you catch a double fuel perks at getgo). Chase freedom rotates the categories each quarter so even though you can get 5% back on the bonus category with them you max out at $1500 per quarter. I will make a small purchase once the card is active in late June and let you know what I find out.

This thread moves fast and there's been a lot of upheaval in the past month. A few weeks ago, I would've told you to start reading from page 731, and keep reading until you understood the processes and the risks. But since then, a lot of the information in the last 200 pages has become obsolete or at least temporarily unavailable as it relates to the Target>eBay>Target>Disney churn.

Two major developments in recent weeks have stymied GC churning: (1) Gift Card Mall on eBay ran out of stock of Target GCs, and no one knows when or if they will restock (GCM has responded to numerous inquires that they plan to restock); and (2) Target removed eBay eGCs from their website, and you can now buy them only in stores. But if you can't buy Target GCs on eBay, then you can't take those GCs to Target to churn back to eBay or cash out for Disney. That leaves a few retailers (GS, BB, Sears/Kmart) for which you can buy their GC on eBay to keep the churn going to earn eBay Bucks and Ebates, then take that GC to the store to buy another GC that you can cycle back or use toward your vacation, e.g., eBay, Disney, Southwest, Hotels .com, Starbucks, etc.

But these alternatives are not ideal because (1) some of these stores' GCs are only available through PayPal Digital Gifts, and PPDG has a very high rate of denying transactions it believes to be fraudulent or just because you're trying to pay for a GC with an eBay GC, and locking up your PP account; (2) if you succeed in getting a GS, BB, Sears/Kmart GC, you have to go to an actual store to buy another GC and it is highly YMMV whether your local store manager/employees will allow such transactions; (3) these stores may not carry GCs that are useful to your goals, e.g., GS carries eBay but not Disney GCs, and BBs carry Disney but some don't carry eBay; and (4) people might have been fine being "stuck" with a Target GC if the rules were to suddenly change, but are leary of being stuck with GS or BB GCs.

I also see that today, some people are discussing whether Ebates has finally patched a glitch on Target .com that let you trick it into giving you credit on the full value of gift card purchases when you add a small qualifying item to your order.

So this is risky business. You need to read this thread, and keep up to date with it every day for deals and changes. People here are great with sharing their experiences with what works and doesn't. Once you understand the process, always have an exit strategy or more. Worst case scenario, you lose some money (but never all because GCs and the things they can buy still have value aside from churning), but do not put in any money that you cannot afford to part with.

I made a Target purchase via Ebates ($100 Disney card & some colored pencils) on 5/30. I got cash back for the entire purchase and my email from ebates showed cash back for the entire purchase.

That's a good deal. Amex offers generally more than cover the annual fee, so I still consider it a 6% discount. I also have the no fee Amex blue and the offers on the Preferred card are much better.

I read on FB that Target isn't allowing egift card purchases with target gift cards anymore. Not sure if that's true or even relevant given that eBay gift cards are no longer available online. But if you order Disney gift cards, your order may get cancelled if you are also ordering an egift card and paying with Target gift cards.

eGCs only?

I think the only eGC I ever bought with a Target GC was eBay, but like you noted those have been removed from the website. ETA: I also did combine several smaller Target GCs into one larger Target eGC once.

The Disney GCs sold on the site are physical, not eGCs, and delivered by mail, so I'm interested if Target GCs still work to purchase other third-party physical GCs. But since GCM ran out of stock of Target GCs, I've been divested from Target and can't test it.

Yes, that's what I read. Only egift cards but ordering one and paying with a Target gift card will cancel the whole order. No clue if this is true. But yes, the Disney ones are physical and I purchased one today with a gift card and it shipped.

I've bought other eGC from target before when they ran a deal (Starbucks, Southwest) so that is sad to hear if it is true. To the best of my knowledge most of the gift cards I have looked at on target's website that are sold online are eGC. So this could be a way to cut down on the 5% off glitch that occurs. Obviously it could also be a way to prevent target gift cards from being drained fraudulently online. Weren't there reports of target gift cards supposedly being drained around Christmas time? I mean ones purchased directly from target/GCM not resale sites like raise. Maybe this is in response to that? We all know how wonky PPDG can be about eGC sales and concern of fraud even if paying with an eBay GC.

image.png Look what is back in stock
I looked to see what specialty gift cards are physical vs eGC at target.com and noticed these were back. Most of the gift cards avail on target's website are eGC. They have Disney, visa/MasterCard, some spa GC, and a few others that said they were mailed but the majority are eGC.

So, I wonder if this means no more combining of Target GC's online (like @Lain pointed out)? I don't do it as much as when I was buying from resellers but occasionally I do have some with small amounts left so I combine. I just did that last week so I have nothing to test it out with.

I actually did it yesterday am to combine several small promo ones toward the purchase of a $100 Disney card. It worked then but not sure if this development was supposedly today (like the other poster who said they didn't get their full purchase credited from ebates only the eligible item).
Also thanks to whoever mentioned to use your shopkicks app at BB when buying Disney gift cards. Just got the notification that I got 600 points :)

That would explain why my t-mobile gift card orders got cancelled. Bummer.

It seems they are doing more website changes on Target. The site is completely different for me today and now I'm getting the "we are experiencing difficulties" message. It seems like every time they make changes to the site, wonky things happen to gift cards. Hopefully in a few days everything will go back to normal again.

I just combined three smaller Target egift cards into one larger one and the order went through just fine. Then I tried to buy a $15 Starbucks egift card and the order was immediately cancelled.

I am assuming you paid for the Starbucks ecard with a Target GC? Nice to hear the combining still works.
