Disney Gift Card Deals

I am sure this question has come up somewhere in the 107 pages of this thread:rotfl2: but was hoping someone could verify if my below strategy is accurate:

Buy discounted Sams Club gift cards using my Capital One 1.5% cash back CC
Use discounted Sams Club gift card to purchase Disney Gift cards at Sams Club (3 pack of $50 gift cards goes for $142.98).

So basically, I want to use my 1.5% cash back credit card to purchase discounted Sams Club gift cards; then use these to purchase discounted Disney gift cards. Can I do this? Thanks for the help; its my first post:wave2:

So it's been what, over 19 months since the last major discount (>15%) off Disney Gift Cards. That was the 20-24% discount that Target offered in early December 2012, where you bought a $50 Disney Card and got a $10 Target Gift Card that you could use on the next card. Also, that was the last time Texas Grocery Store H-E-B offered store coupons that could be used on Disney Gift Cards (instant $50 off $300 Disney Gift Cards).

We got teased by the Target 2013 Black Friday 20% deal, only to find out it didn't apply even to Entertainment Cards.

Has some other major store offered a 15% or more discount in that time?

Giant Eagle had $10 store coupon for $100 in Disney Gift Cards last February. They also gave fuel perks for the purchase, 20 cents/gal up to 30 gallons for the $100 purchase, which is another $6 savings. While the coupon didn't apply to the next gift card purchase, I used them to buy milk, which is priced the same everywhere in Pittsburgh and other basic sale items or needs for groceries, and I got the gas discount, another thing I have to buy anyways. I considered it a good deal. If you have a credit card rewards card, you could increase this even more.

I just bought my first GC's at Sam's Club at 142.88 for $150. The big deal with that is that I bought them with Walmart GC's that I earned from doing Swagbucks. I have almost enough for a second set of $150, and I think that I can eke out another $300 worth before December! That $600 will then contribute toward a lot of our in-park food. Swagbucks is a pain, yes, to some extent, but especially with the different mobile apps, it can be done more easily. I have earned over $800 since I started, but I have usually used them for Amazon cards for Christmas. Super excited that I found a way to do Disney with it, but I just wish I had found it sooner!

Thanks for posting this! I get at least 5000 sb a month or about $50 in gift cards worth. I've just been using them for gas cards and then taking the money I would've spent on gas and putting it in our Disney fund.

Not a bad plan, but this way you also save 7 bucks off every 150. It's not HUGE, but it is something, esp since you didn't pay for the money in the first place. If you consistently get that many, consider taking your next GC purchase, making it a paypal one, then use that paypal acct to pay for the accelerator. That uses $10 from the paypal/mo, but gives you 1500 SB, so a net gain of $60/year.

You can also get discount Walmart gift cards on Cardpool.com. Sometimes they offer a 4-5% discount (standard is 3% off).

Heads up. I noticed that Kroger is having a weekend 4x fuel points promo on gift cards. Today is the last day. You must download the coupon to your card in order to get the points.

YES IT WORKS. I've done it twice in recent days. You must have red card as your default payment tho.

When you go to checkout, you should see the redcard 5% discount already taken off under your 'summary' since it's your default payment option. Then click on 'Pay with Target Gift Card' and enter the gc card # and access # and make sure you hit the "apply" button. Then complete order and you should be all set.

Just reporting back. This worked perfectly. I bought Target gift cards at Kroger today to get the 4x fuel bonus points (promo ends today). Then I went to Target.com and bought my Disney gift cards utilizing the 5% Redcard discount and paid with my gift cards. Love that this works!

Hey guys, sorry if this has been asked but I'm about to head to work and need to know... how long do gift cards ordered from Sam's Club online take to ship? I wanted to order enough to pay off my trip and my balance is due in about 2 weeks, so it makes me nervous to tie up that much money in GC's if there's any delay in shipping them! Thanks!

Looked up my order. I placed the order 7/24, and received it 7/28. Now, I don't want to say that it couldn't have any issues or anything, but that was even over a weekend.

Has anyone been using shopathome successfully to go through Target, use your Target gcs purchased at the grocery store, add one cheap merchandise filler, and get your Red Card discount AND the full shopathome cashback?

Someone posted in the DL board that they do this but I can't see any other reference to it working.

I have not tried going through a cashback site since it was my understanding that none will pay out on the gift card portion of your order.

FYI - another promo just started. Looks like it runs through Sept 3.

Bought $900 worth of target gift cards (3600 fuel points) with my Disney Premiere Visa (2%) and ordered $900 worth of Disney Gift Cards from Target.com (5% off), still have $45 on a Target gift card. Just filled up with gas and saved $26 with fuel points :cool1: Will deposit those gift cards into my Disney Vacation Account when they arrive.

Rinse and repeat 4 more times and my trip will be paid in full, with a nice little bit of savings :thumbsup2

I wish we had Kroger here! I just received my 2nd set of $150 gc's from Sam's Club (that I used Swagbucks to buy). We have paid for the week rental at the condo already, so the next thing to save for is our tickets! We will be using the GCs for food in the park (think I can come up with another 300 from swagbucks before we go... MAYBE another 450, but we'll see).

Looks like we will be there around the same time. Have a wonderful first trip!

Oh, and DH doesn't know this, but the second we get back, I am starting to save my GC's for the next trip!!! We have a different trip to save for for next year, but If I can get $600 from Swagbucks in 1/2 of a year, I could pay for food AND at least half of the tickets with a year and a half to save. If I got another condo like I have booked this time, we could do the whole rest of the trip for cheap enough that he couldn't say no (I hope, ROFL)
