Disney Gift Card Deals

If it's just that you can't get 5% off when paying with gift cards, I'd worry. But if you can't get 5% off when paying with your Red Card, I'd call glitch. I'm sure someone can go into Target right now, use their Red Card to buy a gift card and it'll take 5% off no problem. It's happened before and it's been fixed within a few days. And meanwhile we'll all worry whether that "fix" will take away the gift card loophole.

The "redcard discount not working on entertainment cards" thing has happened before, but hopefully will fix itself again. I am less optimistic about this than I am about Disney cards restocking, but not ready to call it ended yet.

The exclusion to target gift cards and prepaid gift cards existed before. Target classified prepaid Visa, Mastercard, and Amex cards as prepaid cards, but Disney, ebay, SW, "store" cards as entertainment cards previously.

Thanks. That's what I thought.

As long as you can still use Target gift card to buy gift cards, it's a better deal than the 5% off anyways. Obviously, the 5% is a great benefit, but losing the ability to purchase gift cards with Target gift cards would be a huge loss.
Totally agree!

If anyone lives in Texas, HEB regularly has deals on Disney Gift cards. I paid for my entire trip with gift cards I purchased there for 20% off. I'm hoping Disney will release some room discounts that are valid during our trip so I can get even more savings and use the extra money on a room upgrade and/or Mickey's Halloween party.

If the redcard 5% with giftcards goes away, several other options start looking better, since you usually have to pay shipping for Target cards (the advantage being digital ebay cards--if they go through and target .com doesn't ban you...).

I've had problems paying for my Disney Cards on Target.com with my RED Card before (not sure if it was because I was using gift cards), so I logged out, cleared my cookies, tried again and it worked. Not sure what was in those cookies(!), but getting rid of them did the trick.

I would just buy in store. But I am surrounded by Targets.

Went to an HEB yesterday in Pasadena, and NO coupons, NO Disney cards. I will have to go to other stores nearby, but this may just be a Central TX thing. Wondering if I should take a day trip ;)

The last time they had this deal was at the end of February. It was a digital coupon. When it was first released, the quantity was unlimited, but after a couple of days, the stimulation was one per customer.

Pretty sure my aunt found the coupons at a Houston store but the store only had the variable amount Disney cards.

My gut says it's a temporary glitch due to a website redesign. The terms of what is excluded from the Red Card discount haven't changed on Target's website:

5% discount does not apply to the following:
    • Prescriptions, clinic services at Target and Target Optical™ eye exams
    • Target gift cards and prepaid cards
    • Previous purchases
    • Target credit account payments, Target Debit Card cash back and cash advances on the Target MasterCard
    • Gift wrap and shipping and handling charges on Target.com purchases
    • Wireless protection program purchases and deposits required by mobile carrier
    • Where otherwise prohibited by law
...which are the same restrictions as before.

Hopefully this is sorted out in the next week. FWIW, I tried throwing a bunch of different gift cards in my shopping cart & none of them qualified for the discount.

I hate when everybody goes to bed. Lonely ol'me over here on PST :bored:

Here in WA, I usually am up after midnight. I get my devices on Swagbucksgoing to get a start on the new day. The posts here do get fewer and farther apart the later in the evening it gets! But, on the other hand, there are always the east coasters that have been up long before me so I always have new posts to read in the morning with my coffee!

What level does your daughter compete? I judge gymnastics in Texas (up to level 10) so we have probably been at the same place many times! Small world!

Right now she's in Capital Gymnastics Show Team. From here she moves to level 3 JO next year, I think. She doesn't compete yet. Her team does shows and parades. We also have the option to choose Xcel (sp?) next year but her coach says she should really do JO.

To add, I put some non-GC items in the cart with default RC and GC as payment; the 5% discount held. So at least that is some level of good news while we wait to get the discount back on GCs.

Hi Tigger! My daughter is a level 9 in Arkansas. Texas gymnasts are sure impressive! We don't practice the hours that are "normal" in Texas, but she wouldn't mind it if she did :) She's only 14, been battling some blocks and injuries, and hopefully will have a decent competitive season this coming year.

I'm going to try not to worry about what is hopefully a glitch. I just ordered $250 worth of Target e-GCs from my HumanaVitality account, plus I have a $100 Target GC purchased with Paypal money earned from Swagbucks, plus $50 worth of Target e-GCs from Swagbucks. That's $400 worth of Target GCs. I'm planning on getting an additional $75 worth at the beginning of May. My plan is to order $500 in Disney GCs with my $475 in Target GCs. Not sure this will work even if the glitch gets resolved since I think there is a limit, and $500 might be over. If so, I'll just do it in two orders.

Today I placed an order for a $100 Target e-GC using 4 $25 Target e-GCs. I went through Ebates and added a small item (paper plates for my son's graduation party). I need to do this two more times since I have 8 more $25 Target e-GCs. How long should I wait between orders, so that I don't draw attention?

A good way to test would be to try buying a gift card in store with your red card and see if the discount still applies. If it works then it hopefully would just be an online glitch, though odd that it still works on non gift cards. If not I would guess they finally decided to close this loophole.
