Disney Gift Card Deals

I'm sorry, but I don't want to buy a GS gc if they won't let you buy a gc with gc. I called earlier to 3 nearby stores, and asked if I could buy a gift card with my GS gc and they said of course, I could buy anything with a gc. I was advised previously to call from here to be sure they would do this, so that's what I did. They noted a $500 - $1000 limit per day. None of them sounded that they thought it was an odd question. Probably get flamed now, but I followed advice from here previously. I don't think there's quite as much info on GS gc use in store, among posters on GS, as there is knowledge and experience on using Target. Would not call Target with questions at all, but GS's seem to vary from store to store on what is allowed.

Do you know how far in advance you have to put DVA on the account to use for spending onboard? That'll be my next churn goal after our October trip, the cruise that was almost Carnival instead of DCL ;)
DCL told me either two or three days before sailing. I can't remember.

I think users on here want us to be smart about this. You could give GS a call and just ask casually if you can buy gift cards with credit or other cards, or just go into the store and try it. Don't call and be like "Hey, I was looking to buy $3,000 of gift cards with gift cards."

I prefer to just go into the store and try it, and if it doesn't work out just go to another location. Luckily, I have a million Gamestops here in Vegas.

True, but I have no use for a GS card other than what we'd use it for, so wouldn't want to buy if I couldn't use it either. Now that I know they do it, could go in to try it, but I have some answers now and should be able to use it. At first, I just followed advice here to call ahead to be sure they take gc payment for gc. Now the advice is don't call. I certainly wouldn't call and do that about $3000 gc's for example, or anything like that. But a simple call verify gc use of their cards doesn't seem suspicious to me.

I could be wrong, but I think Minniekins concern is when GS stops accepting GCs for GC. I assume when this happens that it will be all GS at once on the same day.

I get that some people want to call ahead so as not to waste money or a trip. That's fine. I have 4 or 5 Gamestops around me, and I know several of them allow GC-to-GC sales, so like @JKalai I just go in, try my luck, and move on.

All I'm saying is if you're going to call Gamestop about GC-to-GC purchases, don't specifically ask about eBay. In principle, if a store accepts gift cards to pay for gift cards that would include eBay, Disney, Netflix, PSN, et al. No need to specify. If a store gets 2 or 3 calls a day about specifically eBay gift cards they're going to start wondering what's up.

Asking to buy gift cards with credit wouldn't seem that suspicious as they deal with credit with video game trade ins everyday.

However also anything over $300 of credit seems suspicious as people normally have under $300 of trade in credit on their cards. I remember when I was really into flipping games, I had $500 of trade in credit on a card and the employee was astounded because I had so much trade in credit.

Yes, that's true. And, just purchasing in general. I don't want a gc I can't spend at all, don't wanna buy one just to try it out.

It's not so much wasting a trip, as it is the money. But, I wouldn't have known if they did pay with a gc for a gc if I didn't ask if they did it.

I made my husband walk in and ask if he could buy a giftcard with his gamestop credit from trade ins and they said yes. Then he walked over and checked for ebay cards. I don't think people are saying NEVER to ask your store if they let you, but just try to fly under the radar and don't be obvious. Asking the limit for a day and making them call corporate to allow $1000 or more a day is going to throw out a major red flag! Just be conservative with it, do smaller amounts over a couple days or at a couple store etc.

ETA: and I am saying this as a general statement, not trying to single anyone out.

One of us could easily buy a gift card and try to use it on a day when they take out the GC to GC transfer in the POS system, so everyday is a gamble really. Especially with Gamestop.

I'll keep an eye on some other forums I'm on to make sure we'll know ASAP if/when they disable it.

I think that could be said for any step within the churning process. I could just as easily get stuck with $$$ in Target GCs if they decide to stop allowing us to purchase GCs with a Target GC. Of course, I'm more likely to find a way to spend $$$ at Target than I am to be able to spend the same $$$ at GS, which is why I have been reluctant to go dive into that part of the process. However, if it looks like need to quickly turn around eBay GCs the next time there's a 5X offer, I may just give it a try.

Agreed, the entire process is not without risk.

I currently have$600 worth of Target cards taking a magical mystery tour around the US per tracking. Colorado-Minneapolis-Reno- lord knows where it will end up. I will contact GCM once it looks like it was returned but u till then I have $600 essentially in limbo and have to hope I can get it straightened out.

Part of the game.

Like I said, it's where the Target GCs die and get buried. Until you really need to spend that money on your vacation, it's the last place to put your money. But with the really horrendous customer service and lousy IT that the DVA has, I wouldn't even put my Disney GCs in there for such a small return. If you've read any of the posts regarding problems with the DVA, you would see what I mean. Those who have had to get an issue addressed have had an horrific time getting things fixed.
I have read the posts by folks who got screwed, including the folks last year during the down-time and double-auto-debit fiascos. I get not using DVA had I been one of those people. I have used it successfully thus far, without incident, and it is my last stop before paying off the vacation balance. Deposit in the morning, pay off in the afternoon. Just like any other strategy here, ymmv.

True, but with employees at GS being told not to sell them with GC, there is a much higher chance of this happening at Gamestop than any of the other retailers we flip at. With the Gamestop I usually go to, there was this employee that said that they were informed by corporate that they were eventually going to take it out of the POS system.

I'm not sure if he really knows or not... but I definitely don't want to be the first to find out when he's right. It seems like the employees that are allowing us to buy gc with gc, either don't care or don't know because a memo definitely went out to some/every (???) location.

The plus to moving some cards through GameStop is that you can "test the waters" with a low amount ($25 even) before commit a larger purchase. Since the turn-around time is fairly short, you can put through a bigger order once your little one goes without a hitch.

I see the GS route as being a better option for those people who have access to multiple stores to complete several smaller transactions during a promo period, rather than trying to push through a large order through just one store.

During the last promo, I had almost all my gift cards tied up in Target transit, but I clawed together a spare $50 ebay card to purchase a $50 GS card. I then shopped around 3 of the 5 local GameStops. The first was out of ebay cards, but the salesperson mentioned there was a "guy" who came in and bought them regularly, so he knew they carried them. The next I walked in, grabbed an ebay card and brought it to the register. The salespeople asked how much I wanted on it, I said $50, then asked me how I'd like to pay & I handed my cell phone with the bar code of the e-gift card. Both transactions went off without a hitch. The next promo, I'll try the last 2 nearby stores, plus maybe call the first one that was out of stock or try @asgaga 's tip for ordering through the website, but paying in store.

That's where I am with it. Unless you have the $$$ to spare where if it gets caught up in GS GC's I don't recommend going that route.

yeah I got excited for a sec too!! Lol! This process is quite the roller coaster. I hate the waiting period too.....
Yeah, me too! I hate waiting in between promos for the next to come to hopefully get it and do a good churn!

Thank you, JKalai, I, for one, certainly appreciate that offer to keep an eye out in other places you frequent where you may hear if this GS churning avenue has changed!
