Disney Gift Card Deals

I talked to two people from guest services that told me they would only take one of my gift cards and the rest would have to be on credit card. I then called gift card services to see if they would combine my gift cards and the answer was no. He also would not allow me to speak with a supervisor. So I called our local Disney store who told me I could not purchase a larger gift card with my gift cards. I was in tears. $400 is a lot of money for my family.

That's ridiculous and I would be irate. I pay for Disney cruises with $50 gift cards (not the whole balance but part of it).

I don't know about you guys, but I think it's completely unacceptable that I cannot use multiple gift cards to buy park tickets. I have never heard of a company that won't take multiple gift cards so it was totally unexpected when they told me on the phone that basically I was screwed. I bought $400 in $50 gift cards at Target. Disney has my money and now I can't get the park tickets I want. This is not okay.

buy the tickets at the park. they should take them there, its just a swipe for them. it would be the same as using them in the stores, theres no limit for purchases there.

That is what the representative on the phone suggested, however I'm reluctant to do that with the way FP+ is set up now. If I don't make my FP+ reservations 30 days in advance, I'm afraid they'll be gone.

Not anymore. Target as of last week stopped giving 5% discounts on Disney cards bought with the red card.
That's not true!
They stopped letting you use the pharmacy reward 5% discount towards gift cards. The 5% discount from using the Red Card still works.

I'd suggest a Disney Vacation Account. I know a lot of people have had bad experiences with this, but I did not. I am using it only for tickets and DDP.

To open the account, you need to put a minimum of $10 using a CC. I used my Disney Visa. Then I typed in each of my $50 Disney GC. Then called ticketing and purchase 2 AP using the DVA account number in 1 transaction. Tell the CM to put the number where GCs go.

I had absolutely no problems, saw the money come out of the account right away and linked my will call numbers to MDE.

The other option is to keep calling the ticketing office until you get a CM willing to take multiple GC. It's happened before.

Good luck pixiedust:

What if you buy 1 ticket per order? How many tickets do you need to buy? That might help if you're buying more than 1.

Does anyone know if Bj's is classified as a grocery store at Chase? I have the premier Disney card. If it is 2%, then that would be the same as buying the gift cards at Target and Bj's carries 100 and 150. Which would mean less to keep up with.
Thanks.:)

What is a disney vacation account? I am just curious as I have 2100 in 50.00 gift cards and I need to pay for my tickets and dining with them

it's a savings tool they came up with last year. You put money into it to save towards your next Disney vacation. I think the money is held by Chase Bank, and insured under the FDIC up to 200k or 250k.

Make sure you read all the fine print before signing up for this. And do a search on dis. There's a thread with very angry posts about this.

I love it and I hope they keep it around, as long as Target gives me the 5% off Disney GC!

I love all these ways of finding GC deals! I shopped at Target this weekend and earned $20 in Target GC for purchasing certain items that we needed (coffee, vitamins, etc). I plan on using them and the GC I get from Shopkick to buy Disney GCs for our July and November trips.

For those who have BJ's warehouse, they have $50 GC for $47 and we had a coupon for $5 off a $50 purchase.

Thanks for all the great tips!

They won't take them online or over the phone, but you can purchase your tickets at the park (at the park ticket window) with multiple gift cards. I asked this specific question over on the budget boards a while back, and multiple folks said they did this with no problems.

I did not know this! When did they stop letting you use the 5% pharmacy reward coupon for gift cards? Has this been confirmed? Rats!

Yes, that's my last resort plan if I can't figure out a way to get then ahead of time. I'm just very bummed that with the new FP+ system, I may not be able to get the fast passes I want if I have to choose them so last minute.

I believe it started Friday. Target no longer allows pharmacy rewards discounts or team member discounts to be used on gift cards. The Red Card 5% discount still applies. Many people have confirmed this on the boards.

True, but a while back, folks were saying that they could use a decent paying rewards credit card to buy a Walmart gift card, then go to SAMs and purchase the WDW gcards with it, thus saving the almost 5% as well as whatever their rewards credit card paid them for purchasing the Walmart gcard to begin with.

Not sure if SAMs closed that loophole or not since that time.

Even if they did, you can use a credit card to purchase the WDW gcards, and still save more than Target. Most rewards cards pay at least 1%.

Hmm - this is interesting. When you shop Walmart through Discover's "shopdiscover" program, you get 5% off Walmart purchases. I wonder if gift cards are excluded? You could in theory, purchase a Walmart gift card online this way, getting the 5%, and then take it into Sams as you suggest.

It didn't work for me. The WM gift cards were excluded.
