I think people being upset or "outraged" about not getting what was very clearly a price mistake are looking at this the wrong way. I have bought thing through numerous price mistakes in the past, sometimes they get cancelled and sometimes they don't. The way I look at it is I assume that it will be cancelled and if it doesn't then yay.

Now, to be brutally honest, there have been numerous cases of a teller at a bank depositing money into the wrong account or workers mistakenly getting a paycheck with an extra 0 on it (my father once got his paycheck from the city of New York for $60,000 instead of $6,000) and in all cases not only are they not required to honor the mistake but people who tried to go out and spend the money had to pay it back and in some cases were arrested.

Being "outraged" at Disney for not honoring 40% off a gift card that was very clearly a mistake (the details said excludes gift cards) is not going to accomplish anything.

I have a screen cap of the details which include nothing, so it doesnt say it excluded anything, also I didnt use any code, I added a card and paid.

Hi folks, it’s been a while!

Just popped in to say I completely agree with @bbsearchlight. There’s no use getting upset over a deal that was “too good to be true” not being true. None of us are out any money, and a discount that we weren’t supposed to get anyway doesn’t count.

I admit I was a bit sad this morning when I missed out on this deal, apparently by just 2 minutes. But as I was adding a $500 Disney Gift Card to my cart, I was seriously thinking to myself — well, in for a cancelation!

Seriously, this is the mantra of all deal seekers on Slickdeals, DansDeals, DoC, etc. whenever there’s an obvious price mistake or glitch posted — in for a cancelation! No reasonable person could have believed Disney itself would sell their own gift cards for 40% off. I’ve been Disney Gift Card discounting for a long time, and it’s never happened. This was clearly a glitch. As with all glitches and price mistakes, you hope it goes through and/or the merchant honors their mistake, but you should always expect a cancelation.

The merchant is in no way bound to honor their glitch or price mistake; the bare minimum they have to do is to make you whole. They can cancel orders, and apparently even reach into our (their) Disney Gift Cards and reverse the transaction, and all they need to do is refund you every last cent of your money. Nothing more.

On to the next deal!
 
Did you get a call?

I didn’t get a call, but I’m sure I will. Nothing to show it was a successful transaction in my email. Even with the screenshotted chat, I wasn’t 100% either. 70%? Sure. Hahaha but whatever. We tried, guys!
 
Well now I don't feel that bad that I only got 2 of those gift cards. If I had found it sooner I would have probably done like 10 orders to different e-mails and on different credit cards for the cheapest ABD ever :rotfl:

I haven't heard anything from ShopDisney yet, but as long as the cards are cancelled and I am not charged full price I will be fine.
 
IM not that upset other than when i asked chat earlier they said they would honor the deal. Figured it wouldn’t stick tho.

Unfortunately one call center employee doesn’t have the power to make decisions for a billion dollar corporation. That employee may not even have known a website glitch had happened at that point. Once the error was found out, there were layers of management reporting to go thru before a final decision & action plan were made. I’m sure many departments including finance, legal & public relations had to be involved in resolving the issue. That takes time which explains why phone calls happened at 7:30 last night.

Did you actually receive the gift card? Is your order still listed as processing? It may just end up cancelled, with no further notice.

I ordered a Christmas Dooney purse a few years ago & apparently due to a glitch, many more purses were sold that they had available. Some people reported getting emails cancelling their orders. Others, including myself never received any communication from The Disney Store. Those orders were just cancelled with no notification. The only way I knew it was cancelled was by checking the order status.

Again, on chat, the agent said they are just waiting for verifcation from my bank, nothing about cancelling the order.

For sure, even when the employee said it would be honored, I was like "there's literally no way they're giving out all this free money" lol - but hey, I was hopeful... until I wasn't... hahahaa
