Disney Gift Card Deals

Thanks for the tip! Out of curiosity, did you find AAA helped you save any money? We are AAA members, but when I did an online quote for our last trip, it was the exact same price as Disney's website down to the penny. :confused3

It depends. In 3 trips, I have 3 answers. AAA offers a discount right off the bat. Might be something as low as $50-200. But hey, that's more merch or a town car ride from the airport.

Trip 1) We started off with just the AAA discount. But I then moved our trip to fall into a free dining period. And with free dining, it was a better discount. So we went with that.

Trip 2) The only discount was the AAA discount.

Trip 3) A room only discount opened up after we had booked. It would've only saved us a few more bucks vs. the AAA discount. And we would would've had to redo our FP+'s. So we just stuck with the AAA discount.

All that being said, it could be something as simple as when your vaca is planned for and what kind of discounts (Dis & AAA) are offered

How many gift cards can you redeem at one time to buy park tickets on Disney's website? I seem to remember it's only 2 or 3.

I have never had problems paying on my Disney vacation with Disney gc on line. It takes some time adding the $50 gc one at a time but I'm patient. I like seeing my balance dwindle down :)

On another note, we went to DL/DCA Dec 2013 and I wasn't able to pay on my account using gcs there. :(
Did you use the GCs directly at the desk when you checked out? I put down a CC for incidentals but used my GCs when I checked out of Paradise Pier in January of this year.

On the website, I believe it is only 2. If you call, you can buy park tickets using as many cards as you want to. You need to speak to someone in ticket services, the general CMs on the 1800-WDISNEY line can't do it for some reason, but they can transfer you to ticket services and the CMs there can do it no problem.

I just had a "chat" with an online Target representative regarding the website charging tax on the gift cards. He said that sales tax is charged on the purchase of physical gift cards, but not e-cards. I pointed out that if they charge me tax on a gift card and again on the items that I purchase with the gift card, they are "double taxing" me and that is not legal, to the best of my knowledge. As I understand it, a gift card is a "cash equivalent" and not subject to sales tax in any jurisdiction. If Target continues to charge tax on Disney gift cards, I will no longer be purchasing from them. Fortunately, the Target gift cards I have already purchased were bought at a 7% discount so I can always just go to the store and buy them. Funny that they say that gift cards are taxable online, but not in the store.

The chat representatives are notoriously misinformed. They have no idea what you're talking about and are just referring to a script of FAQs when you consult them. You're better off sending an email than you are opening a chat window to solve a problem. Give it a day or two, try another browser. The tax will eventually disappear. It's a website glitch.

When we stayed at Paradise Pier in Dec 2013 I paid about a $900 balance off at the front desk using my Disney Gift Cards. I made sure to go down to do this very early in the morning, before people would be showing up to check in. We were basically by ourselves.....and it took a good 15-20 minutes to finish up the job ;)

I really, really, really wish I could add funds to our reservation before we arrive. I'm waiting for someone to crack this code.

Anyone had any luck with NOT getting charged tax for target.com DisneyGC orders? I keep thinking it will go away, but it hasn't. I don't want to have to wait for a refund on the tax, as I'm still waiting on a refund for a mistake of theirs(online) from June.

Tax isn't showing up when I add Disney GCs to my cart. I live in PA and we get taxed just for sneezing here. If they could collect state tax on GC sales, they would. Have you tried using a different browser? I'm using Firefox.

I think my earlier post was confusing. I was trying to give a tip about getting a code for carpool for an extra 5% off..which is separate from my current issue.

I was also wondering what others experience is with cardpool. Last time I oyr hased I got it in 5 minutes. I irdered gift cards yesterday and havent rec eived them yet. I paid and got a confirmation

Did you ever get it? I've had no issues with Card Pool up to this point, but my latest order I received confirmation of but am still waiting on my cards to be emailed. It's always been sent immediately.

Yes I did get it...It just took longer than I was used to. I even emailed them. I think I get nervous with these websites so if it doesn't come right away...I panic. Anyway it came late in the afternoon the next day. They emailed me back and let me know it was coming too. So I felt better.

On another note....

Ordered my disney gc from Target and got an email that they just got in a shipment. I bought $300 worth. So they shipped $200 and I haven't heard about the other $100 yet. Has this happened to anyone?

Try what Marionnette suggested. I was having issues with the target website using Safari. I went in and it charged me tax. I must have tried 3 more times and then it didn't. But it freezes. So I went to chrome and no problems

That's good to hear. Like you, it makes me nervous waiting lol

I've never had my Target order split like that before.

Thanks for the help. I placed an order for 4 $100 cards last night and saw that it was chargin me tax. I figured I would wait and see when they ship it and actually charge me, if it sows up or not. I received an email this morning that they had cancelled my order due to high volume. :(
So I tried agian this morning with 3(there was no limit listed on the site) and it didn't charge me tax this time. I'm using Chrome BTW.
So now I'm waiting to see if the order will actually go through or not...

On my last order a few months ago, I ordered $800 worth of GC. They shipped in three different packages, all within a week of each other. It was a bit strange.

I have never been charged tax, not that I would pay for it if they did, but I wonder what gives?

I used Chrome this morning and the tax was gone. The order said something about "bad process" and didn't appear to go through, so I closed out the browser and re-logged in. Then, I checked my orders and it showed that it had been created. I just got the email that it has shipped.
